It's the best thing since sliced bread. Seriously. If you do a lot of wiring especially anything involving boards etc, then I highly recommend it.

Not to gunk up Matt's thread, but if all you wiring guys are looking at getting a project put together, I'm thinking about ordering a bulk quantity of wiring from waytek as opposed to a useable amount from wire barn. After I priced it out, we'd be looking at it potentially being significantly cheaper/more wire per person. I know everybody's been toying around with the idea of a wiring day, if that's the case it might be nice to get good wire on the cheap. If you're interested, let me know via PM as to not further derail his thread. I think we'd need at least 5 guys.

Please make one of these for ME! I tried my hand at it and it turned out horrible, but I also think I still need to paint the sheet as right now its still clear!

Brian dropped by the other day and picked up the template for the fairing. He's scanning it and will post it up once he gets the file set up so it should be easy to download and trace onto the lexan.
it's not too bad to cut if you have a jigsaw with any sort of metal cutting blade (more teeth). I'd make some but I have trouble finding time to work on MY truck as it is!
painting it will definitely improve the looks. i plastidipped mine at first to see how i'd like it. then vinyl wrapped it for the final version.

I knew a few folks that had used this brand (not this particular station though). I got it barely used for a STEAL on eBay which was what made up my mind over some of comparable models. This is the only advanced solder station I've used so I can't speak to how it stacks up against the competition. But it serves my needs really well.
Not sure where you're located but if you're nearby and want to check it out and try it in person (I'm in Gainesville, VA). just shoot me a PM and we'll work it out.

This is a good idea, Sam. And no worries, gunk it up - I haven't posted up anything interesting lately haha.
I've had some people ask me where I've been buying my electrical components.
For the bussmann box and fuses/relays, etc: waytekwire.com
Some folks like mouser.com but you'll find that both sites have MINIMUM quantities. So you'll have to shop around to see what works for your particular order.
for wire: i used wirebarn.com the owner is an awesome guy to talk to. really into cars and supplies top notch wire. call him up if you have any questions and he'll be more than happy to discuss any concerns and help you out.
for the expandable looming - try eBay. if you're using a high quality wire with a good jacket than the looming is mostly aesthetic anyways and more for keeping everything clean/organized.
last but not least. there's been some talk of a wiring day. Zak, Brian and myself are loosely discussing Saturday, February 21st as a wiring/wrenching day at my house in Gainesville. If you're interested, drop me a PM. If you just want to come by and have some beers and throw something on the grill - that's peachy too.

Fairing Scanned IN!!!
So I got this bad boy scanned in! Twas a process but she is done!! Just get this printed on a large format printer - Do Not scale to Fit! Everything is drawn to scale and you will need at least a 48" by 12" sheet of paper to print it out on. If you go to the file tab and click on properties you will see the actual sizing! Hope this helps everyone out!!
Cheers!

HAHA, just a few...Luckily got in early enough. And for those that need a vector file of this I do have a traced version in Adobe Illustrator. If you were feeling fancy you could just drop this file into a lasercam and get'r done real fast.

Not really much of anything to report on here lately...just been enjoying the truck. Got to do some snow wheeling up in the Poconos along with some ice fishing.
Mmmm. Good Ole Pennsylvania swamp water (Yuengling)
Electrical/wrenching day was pretty fun last Saturday. We got some wiring done on Brian's 4Runner (did a bussmann box and some switches) and swapped in a new timing belt and water pump on Sam's '03 V8.
T belt swap is actually pretty darn easy....just gotta take a lot of crap off the engine haha.
Hopefully will post up soon on wrapping up the electrical stuff. Also decided the cargo box will have a steel frame structure with integrated mesh barrier that will fold flat and be mounted on hinges. But need to get my new 200A panel wired into the garage before I can run the welder w/out tripping everything....

Looks beautiful. I plastidipped mine but the old Yakima logo shows through. I need to vinyl wrap mine. Might I ask where did you buy the stuff to do it?

good question sir! We caught a good number of crappies but that was it. I hate to say it but my fiancé out fished me...grrr. I didn't live that down for a good week! But we caught enough for a good fish fry! If we hadn't caught anything I probably would have lost my mind....it was ridiculously cold out. I was having to re break the ice to get the fish out haha

If I recall correctly I got it off ebay. Was a satin black. I plastidipped mine to start with as well and it was durable. ..but the vinyl seems to stay cleaner and is easier to clean.

Sounds good. Just packed up my powder skis so I'll ship out the minute the ticket arrives!
