Firestone P 255 75 17

I would appreciate any feedback if you are running this particular tire. From the tire rack reviews they seem to be the best AT. Most of my driving is on pavement and I don't often tow anything (hence not looking into the LT model).

Can anyone post pics?

Thanks

These are LT 255/75/17, but should look the same. I like them, have about 45k miles on them currently and definitely still have some life left. They are pretty quiet even after that many miles. They are good on the road, not bad off-road. They don't hydroplane very easily and did well for the first couple winters. We'll have to see how well they do in the snow now that they are worn down a little bit.

Thanks a lot! The look of your 4runner is what I'm looking to accomplish with mine. What lift/setup do you have?

Are you looking at Destination AT's? I don't own a vehicle with 17" wheels but the '89 4runner below has 31x10.5 x15 AT's on it. The tread is more aggressive than the LT's shown above. My set was cheaper than the Walmart Authority tires I was considering. I was surprised because I got them from an indy dealer who sourced them from NAPA. I don't know that they are the "best" but they are a good value and I have no complaints. They are not noisy which would drive me nuts. For my DD I'm probably going to get Coopers. If not I'll be getting these in a 16" size.

I am looking at Destination A/Ts - they are very highly recommended on TireRack and T4R. Thanks for the picture!

Just to clarify--the tires shown in the picture above are the Destination AT's, but are an LT-rated tire (as opposed to a P-rated tire). If you are getting Destination AT's they will look the same as what's in the picture.

I'm running OME 885 springs up front, Toytec Superflex springs in the rear, and Bilstein 5100's all around. The front shocks are set at the stock height, all lift is provided by the springs.

I also have LR upper control arms and some one-off extended sway bar end links in the rear.

Thanks for the information! Again, your setup looks great!

D'oh! This is part of why I find tire buying so confusing! I do know they make a tire that's marked LT where mine says AT.

I want to mention to the OP that they have white letters on one side. My old tires were white letters out so the tire place mounted the new ones white side out. My mistake for not mentioning it but you probably might not want the 80's flavor on your 4Runner. My son hates it.

Thanks a lot! I checked out his build thread and those pictures along with the ones posted in this thread have definitely solidified my decision.

I have them on mine, stock 265/65/17 size. No snow yet but I can half throttle it up a hill in rain and they don't think about spinning. They're somewhere between 75 and 50% tread left. I'm interested to know how they'll do, I have a set in 235/75/15 on my 2WD GMC Sierra and they do well in snow, very well for a 2WD with an open diff, but if I load the bed it's all good.

Only complaint is they're cracking a bit on the shoulders. It's minimal, not near enough to leak or cause a blowout but it's an 06 and since those aren't factory tires they're probably not all that old. The set on my truck is about that old, not cracking yet.

Overall i'd say they're great for the money, definitely more street oriented than offroad so they're perfect for me, I buy all terrains for winter, I don't offroad except in old junker trucks.

Also if you like the BFG A/T's, check out the General Grabber A/T 2, tread pattern similar (almost exactly like Pro Comp All Terrain) and a lot cheaper, on tire rack they're rated excellent in snow, I think i'm gonna buy a set once my Firestone A/T's wear out.
