Washer Fluid Level Indicator
I came across a couple threads (and in the manual) relating to the windshield washer level indicator on the dash. From what I understand, it is standard on Canadian vehicles, but not to be found on American 4Runners. My question would be whether or not it would be possible to add it?
I ask this, because after some research, I finally found out that the unused connector hanging behind the passenger headlight is the one used for the level sensor for the washer fluid. It is a 2 wire connector containing a purple w/ white and the white w/ black wires, which according to the schematic, are the wires for the level sensor.
I did a quick search on Partznet and they sell the sensor for about $40. Alhtough it looks like the wiring is there, a couple things still elude me. The biggest one is that I couldn't find the indicator in the dash cluster. I used a flashlight's reflection to try and find it, but with no luck.
The favor that I ask for those North of the border, is that could you tell me where this indicator is (a picture would be great). I figure that it probably illuminates during the start up sequence, and if it was present in my vehicle, it would never light up since I don't have the feature.
Yes, I know, the washer level indicator is nothing to go crazy over, but it is a relatively cheap, functional mod. It also gives you an excuse to work on your 4Runner. What more could you ask for?
BTW, I have an '04 SE.
Thanks,
Tom
