Another Projector retrofit

Project Quad Bi-Xenon retrofit

I dont know what i am going to do with it until i get to that part.

Had these Hella E55 bi-xenon projectors for years.

So @zopperman suggested that i do a retrofit

He suggested i take advantage of a black friday sale from trs.

Ordered the following
-Gatling Gun 2.0 shrouds for my Hella E55 projectors
-Morimoto Mini H1 6.0 Projector
-Pair of Eagle Eyes headlamps

Bought following parts
-DAP Silicone something 230
-JB Weld putty stuck with 5 minute cure time
-SEM Landau Black spray paint
-RED SMD Led for demon eyes
-HI-Intensity LED strip for DRL
-3M Metal tape

E55 next to morimoto mini h1

3" projector on left, 2.5" on right

Gatling Gun 2.0 shrouds on both projectors

RED SMD for the demon eyes

LED DRL strip and test burn in of the HIDs

Eagle eyes came in $80 per pair on ebay shipped

took 10 minutes before i opened it and used a heat gun and popped it open in 5 minutes

headlight bezels

3" hole saw. hole saw meet bezel, bezel now has a hole

Parts everywhere all over the place

Bezel painted. projectors test fitted.

thats it for now. waiting on some smaller shrouds from trs for the bi-xenons in the hi beam buckets

today 12/18/13

working on passenger side headlight right now.

today TRS shrouds came in. so i closed up one of the headlamps. then started on the second one.

pointers
-1000 grit snad paper and some water will scuff up the bezels nicely so you can black them out.
-make your holes. test fits BEFORE you paint the bezels. this way you dont scratch them up moving it around.
-i used SEM landau black spray paint

here are the two "eyes" in the headlamp bezel

now its in the headlamp housing

closed up. go buy some clamps. small $2 from home depot or lowes. makes your life a lot easier. Also no oven was used, just a good ole heat gun. it was open in 3 minutes. closing it up too about 5-7 with a head gun too.

Too much reflection so the pictures dont look as sexy as they do in real life.

both projectors are set level with the old halogen lowbeam lamp. was going to take pictures but my cell phone was running out of batteries so tomorrow going to work earlier to finish up the other side and take some more pictures.

************************************************** ************************************************** **********
12/21/2013 update
More detailed pictures
Headlight buckets with the two projectors installed

Headlamp shroud painted.
NOTE: Use a head gun to apply the paint. speed up the dry time by 10000x. thin multiple coats!

If you wanted to see what the headlight mounting looks like

Headlight lense with bezel in it.
NOTE: head lamp comes off in two piece. then into 4. first two halves is lense and bezel together

Headlight bucket inside headlamp mount

Use this stuff in the picture to make a good tight seal

I routed my "mods" thru the moisute/air vent holes in the top and bottom.

Mods thru hole

Notch the tab in the hole so the wires dont get pinched.

reserved just in case, needed it

Cap reinstalled over the wires

what the rear looks like. used some silicone to make a gasket to fill the void left from cutting off the hi beam headlight holding part. thats the white stuff around this picture. it dries clear

dont need it on the low beam one, since it gets good seal anyways

Progress. into the truck. I have female hi beam connectors so it can just plug and play into the hibeam wiring.

Low beam demon eyes

Quick installed picture

Headlight cut off from 50feet away. spare tire messes up my beam pattern LoL

Here is what the front looks like before. the tire is still on the front

Finished install pictures

Looking really good. Can't wait to see the finished product. It looks like the E55 projector is larger than the Morimoto but it's going in the smaller 'high beam' headlight bucket? Just wondering if that's just your preference or if mounting depth or any other factors came into play. Also - how do the eagle eye parts compare to OEM? I was under the impression OEM units were better built and preferred for these retro projects. Obviously the cons being more expensive. I don't have any first hand experience with aftermarket units though so it's all based on other folks feedback.

Not questioning your decisions, btw - just curious as to why so that when/if I do a retrofit I'll be better informed.

The demon eyes is a cool trick. I think Zak did that too, right? Keep up the nice work!

eagle eyes are junk. they cheap and they serve a purpose. to be retrofitted LoL.

teaser pic. no morimoto in yet since the gatlin gun 2.0 shroud is LARGE so a mini gatlin gun shroud is enroute from trs right now.
