For those of you with the 4.7L v8 4runners....

What rpm do your rigs pull at 60mph, 70mph, and 80 mph

When I cruise at 80 the rpm are slightly above 3250. Is this normal for the v8 4runners?

My Explorer with the 5.0l V8 would hold 80 at under 2500 rpm...

I think mine does about 2600-2700 rpm at 75. I am taking a trip tonight so I will check it out and post back what it does for sure.

Do you have the 5 speed tansmission? I can't remember if the V8 always had it or it was added in 2004 or if that was just the V6.

Yes it has the 5speed. It's a 06 v-8 4x4 if it matters

Maybe it is not shifting into 5th/overdrive?
hmmm....

Is there a overdrive button that I might have disabled like on my explorer?

Nope, if it's in "D" then it should be shifting into OD.

Not sure of my exact RPM but I know it is not that high.....I think it is about 2500 or less. As mentioned, it sounds like it is not shifting into 5th.

Are you sure you are in "D" and not "4". I made that mistake on my test drive. I thought the shift lever needed to be moved to the left...but it doesn't.

Good to hear you got that problem solved Mr. Lamb.

I know you don't need it anymore, but just to follow up. I got back from my trip today and I found that it does 2100 RPM at 70 and 2200 at 75.

Thats for the info. I will expect the same now that it is actually shifting into OD.
