Another Water Leak

Guys,
I haven't been doing the 4runner thing for long but I really wish I had started sooner. This forum has been an excellent source of information.

Bought 2007 V6 SR5 used. Has a replacement windshield in it. Found the infamous wet carpet on driver side. Using this forum, I first checked my drains. Those things flow better than my son when I changed his diaper for the first time. (I kept him anyhow.) Used this forum to learn how to extract the driver side foot block and pulled back carpet and put the hose on the top of the truck. Before I even got inside, I could hear it bubbling near the top of the windshield as it was drinking the water. Shortly there after, the stream of water showed on my floor.

Need another windshield anyway since this truck lived in Texas and is chipped, scratched, etc. So Monday or Tuesday, I'll getting a new windshield put in hopefully with the fasteners in place. Are they really needed or just put extra goop in them? Additionally, the trim pieces are bent from the first job that was obviously third rate. Should I get those replaced as well or can I do that afterwards?

Thanks for all the great information here. If they charged a membership fee, it would be worth it for what this has saved me.

There is a weatherstrip on the outside of the windshield and money says that when they replaced the windshield that they didn't fill the holes with the plugs or silicone.

Wet driver's side floor (under mat)

I found it already. However, I don't know if I need to get the fasteners replaced which they likely were not.
