Read through all 190 pages of lift thread, have a few questions

I spent close to 6 hours going through the lift thread with pictures. I contacted a local lift shop and they suggested just going with a leveling kit as going with a lift kit will cause all sorts of problems and wear with stock parts. With that said what can I expect? I like quit a few including the OME, Cornfed, etc. I want to go higher then the leveling kit (They suggested something like Bilstien Struts in the front and 5100's in the rear, something along those lines) but don't want to battle axle seals, driveshaft vibrations, etc. like I did on the ford excursion I lifted back in the day. That was a 6 inch lift so not sure what to expect with the 4th generation 4runner. I like the 3 inch in the front and 2 in the back range. My X Reas system is leaking and I need to move forward one way or another. I have a 2008 Sport Edition 4WD with the V8 and looking for some more answers then I found on the lift thread. Any advice and experiences are much welcome, some good looking trucks on that thread.

I have been running 4" of lift up front, and about 2" in the rear and I have never had any problems from anything. But mine is also a 2wd so I dont have to worry about the CV angle. I think you will be fine running the Bilstein or cornfed. You can always install a diff drop with it.

if your xreas suspension is leaking, a leveling kit/spacer lift is out of the question. the xreas is a closed system so if one's shot, the rest are done too and you'll need a new set for both front & rear.

as you said, OMEs seem to be pretty popular lift at an "entry level" price.

but if you wan't a better ride, i'd suggest fox or icon, they sell the traditional coilover for the front suspension and shocks/coils for the rear

ditch the xreas, get 5100s with Eibach springs up front and superflex back, you'll be thrilled. 900 bucks OTD from toytec IIRC.

if you do order from toytec, as @zopperman suggested, there's a 5% off coupon floating around somewhere on this forum

That 4x4 shop is full of numb nutz.

Bilstein 5100's are the most popular setup here. Use your OEM springs if on a budget. If you can spring a few bucks get the Eibach front springs and the rear superflex's.

I aleady plan on ditching the xreas, and Zopprrman how much lift would the setup you mention give me? I do not want to use a spacer lift, and I would rather spend more to get a better quality ride.
I like the way the 3/2 cornfed sits so I am looking for something along those lines as far as height. It will still be a daily driver so i am trying to find out what the pros and most importantly the cons...

Yes I get that and have read through it, but back to my orginal questions are what can I expect as far as problems and excessive wear on stock parts. I don't want to have any regrets and yes those posts show amounts of lift, but no mention of issues and such.

fox, toytec, or icon coilovers, youll be able to achieve that 3 inch lift in the front.

and all 3 offer an adjustable coilover so you can adjust the height between 1-3 inches as you see fit

most rear shock/coil combos will give you the 2 inches youre looking for. Id suggest the bilstein 5100s, theyre a pretty popular shock among toyotas

Could always go best of both worlds. A little toyec with some tried and true OME.
5100s front with OME coils
5160's rear with OME coils
This will give you 3' in front which wont bother any cv angles or vibration and 2' in the rear by using toytec springs it will provide a non stiff ride like the OME are known for. But coils are by far the best choice with OME. This may be the route i go as i agree with you im totally against spacers. the only issue may be proper allighnment issues depending on each vehicle wear and situation.
Not sure. I dont wana thread jack you but maybe some of these pros can comment ?

Not sure that you have... as far as "not having regrets..." start searching for reviews or realize that just about everyone on this board has either 5100/ome or 5100/toytec or 5100/fj, icon or OW. If they were terrible, they wouldn't be popular. Not with this group anyways, they don't tolerate junky crap for the most part. You know your desired result as you like the look of cornfed 3/2 but don't want a spacer. 5100/XXX springs will get you there. As stated, if they were a bad option, they would not be so popular.

I've read the lift thread and many others and don't recall ever reading complaints of excessive wear on stock parts if you are 3" or less. More that that and you can minimize problems with longer brake lines, adjustable UCAs and...?. Tire size matters too as far as how much rub you get. I kept it simple with 32.1" tires and a 3" Toytec Ultimate suspension and have no problems. Only had to move the wheel well plastic an inch to stop rub when turning.

So depends - if you buy the kit assembled from TT the shocks come preset at .85 and they have a TT alum. top hat that's basically a 1/2" spacer so ~3" of lift between that stuff and the springs.

If you piece it together you need OEM top hat, 1/2" spacer, shock and spring, cheaper (marginally) but more work and piecing together.

Superflex rear springs are 2" of lift.
