Garage door opener

Has anyone found a way to disconnect this button for when it's parked outside the garage over night? Right now, with the ignition off, the button works. I'd like to disable it using the ignition so when the runner is parked outside overnight, the button doesn't work.

Has anyone modded this?

Thanks in advance.

I haven't but I've always wondered why it's not on a switched circuit for safety reasons?

I haven't seen anyone do this yet but I may have just missed it.

In theory, it should be as simple as changing the power source from 'constant' to 'accessory'. Then it will only work when the key is in the ignition. The only issue with that would be whether or not it has a 'memory' power source so it won't forget the code. If it only runs off a single full time power line then I would think that flipping it on and off would result in the need to re-link it each time. Now that I've said that, maybe the reason Toyota made it full time is because it doesn't have a memory power line.

The above is just me rambling, btw. My 4Runner doesn't have the garage door button or I'd look into it.

So this is an old thread, but I found it trying to find pics of your OME / 5100 setup that I had already seen.

Anyway, I'm not sure if you've done anything with this yet, but I figured I would give you a heads up. The homelink only works for like 30 seconds when you turn it off and lock it.

I swapped in a Camry overhead console ($35 on ebay), and tested it by sitting in the truck in the driveway. I pulled the key, locked the doors, and waited for the map lights to go off on their own. Homelink was inop. I hope that helps you or anyone else that comes across this. Sorry for the bump.
