This is awesome! You definitely scored getting that radio so cheap. I haven't been so lucky but I have some feelers out now.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the great write up. Do you know if it will the Bluetooth will work with an Iphone 5? Phone, music, Pandora, Iphone Navigation? I was reading on the Scion page that there were some issues with the prior touchscreen scion radio and the iphone 5. I ordered one from a source on craigslist but for about double what you guys have paid. Hope it works! Phil

I have an iPhone 5 and it works fine with this unit. I have not tried to use the nav on the phone yet. Car has been in the shop almost a week so I havent really had time to play with it.

One last question before tackling this tomorrow.

Did you need any extra bolts or anything else that's not listed above in the parts list?

As long as you have a factory radio now, no. You will just swap the brackets and screws from the stock one to the scion one. You will only use 3 of the 4 screws on each side though.

If you havent had the dash off before, make sure you research how to do it. Its not hard but there are a couple of bolts that are hard to see.

My god, what a difference.

Thanks so much man. Swapped in 30mins all said and done w tools put away.

All you'll need is a flat head screw driver, #10 & #8 socket wrench w extension. This is an absolute Breeze And what a difference it makes

Thanks again. I'll post pics when I get home tonight

Awesome. Did you end up getting the nav extension as well or just the head unit?

I honestly have yet to see a "smooth" operating navigation system in a car. Really slow or delayed but I love my google maps app that I've used since the app came out therefore just the head unit

This looks great. Thanks Buckles & Az636 for posting your progress with this. I've been wanting to add bluetooth and nav for a while and wanted to maintain as near a factory look as possible and I think this fits the bill. Two quick questions though.

1. Do the steering wheel controls function with this unit?
2. I know neither of you have the nav module, but do you foresee any issues fitting it into the dash?

The steering wheel controls still work.

Neither of us have the nav unit, however fitting it in the dash will not be a problem as the actual headunit has very slim behind the face plate, and has enough space so that when the nav is connected, its no bigger than the stock radio.
