Subwoofer Not working like it was?
My sub seems to have lost any of it's punch. I have a 06 Limited with JBL. when i put my hand over the screen i can feel the sub but barely. All the other speakers are working. Could a fuse be out somewhere? Anyone else have/had this problem?
I want to swap with another factory if anyone has one they want to sell? The upgrade will be in the future when i do the head unit but that seems to be a process and i don't mind the factory unit. Just want the sub to work. Any thoughts?
Thanks

Does it sound "rumbly" or sort of distorted? It might not even be the sub, could be the amp itself. Amp is located next to the sub. Amps have been known to go (not a common issue, but not unheard of)

Good call. Does the jbl amp power all the speakers or just the sub?

Yep, All the speakers including the sub are powered by the amp. If the sub is "working", just not as before, I would suspect the amp. If you heard distortion or rattling, then I would say the sub is cracked or is the problem. Doesn't appear to be. Best bet is to "fleabay" it and get another one. Preferable with a warranty.

Mine is doing something similar over the last couple months, all the other speakers work but there isn't much if anything coming out of the sub. I first noticed the bass was gone then the sub sounded like it had a flat lol
So it sounds like the process is to check the amp 1st then the sub? It does seem like I am having to turn up the stereo to higher number even to hear all the speakers that are currently working.
I think I am going to potentially replace both the amp and the sub at the same time while I have it all apart.

They blow all the time, if it's still somewhat functioning, you probably blew 1 of the 2 channels, replace it with a real sub, the JBLs are garbage

Anyone have a stock JBL sub for sale? I want aftermarket but it seems like making a trim ring and different cabling could be difficult. I'd prefer a stock JBL to plug and play.

It's really not complicated, I didn't do a trim ring, I just screwed in new screws

I'm having the same issue after installing an aftermarket head unit. The subwoofer works but barely, I can only hear it if I'm standing right next to it. The harness is supposed to retain factory amp and fade and balance work. Does anyone have any idea how to troubleshoot this?
