Dual Outlet Ashtray ?
On the true ash tray insert with the two outlets, will a typical garage door opener fit in the ash tray? I would like to add one of the factory ash tray inserts, but still keep my remote in that area. From the threads I have read it looks like a remote would fit when the ash tray is pulled out, but its hard to be sure.

I guess it would depend on how big your remote is? I have the smokers tray installed in mine, but the ashtray portion is pretty small. I just measured it and it's only 2x2 and 3.5 deep. Hope this helps

Thanks for taking the time to measure. Is that with the tray removed?

That's exactly where I keep my garage door remote.
This is the remote I have (it's a Genie):
I remove the outer case/belt clip.
BTW, here's a little bit of trivia: The cigarette lighter outlet is wired to a different circuit than the 12v power outlet. I know this because I did the "constant on" 12v power outlet mod and while the 12v outlets (front and rear) are constantly powered, the cigarette lighter is only powered when the ignition is on.

If you took the ash tray out, it would definitely fit, I don't think many would fit inside the ash tray itself

Yep, there's an extra plug down there, you unplug the old, plug the new unit into the wires already there, and it fires right up.

Ok, ordered mine today.
Now I need a how-to. How do you get the old one out and the new one in? Does it just pop out and in, or do I have to remove the console?
