I just did mine back in December. NGK and Denso are both OEM IIRC.

I installed NGK Iridium IX plugs, about $57 for all 8.

Nope, screw the stealership. Local auto parts store like Oreilly is where I got mine. About $7 per plug. Here's a link.

2004 4.7 here,

I inquired about changing plugs on my 132,xxx runner because hey its about time, and the NAPA guy suggested replacing the coils at the same time for $8 or so a coil.

Recommended?

I could be wrong, but I think the coils are an "if-it-aint-broke-dont-fix-it" part. Unless your engine is misfiring or skipping then you shouldn't need to replace the coils. As long as you're changing your plugs at the recommended intervals (100k on the V8 Iridium plugs IIRC) then you shouldn't need to worry about the coils because the electrical resistance on the coil should be pretty low with good plugs, and therefore prolong the coil life.

Sounds cheap for a coil... sets of 8 seem to run in the mid 300 range....

I thought the same; I was thinking about $40 each.
I changed my plugs at 79k and used Denso SK2011R.

I replaced mine at 90k with dense iridium power plugs. The cheapest price someone quoted on here was 57 on this thread, however, if you have an Advanced Auto parts you can get them much cheaper.

If you put 8 iridium dense plugs in the cart, it comes out to about 69 dollars, now you can literally add anything you want just make sure that your cart total is 75 before tax. I added an air freshener and a packet of anti seize, the total came out to about 75 and some change. Now if you use the coupon code TRT37 it will take 30 dollars off of your cart. Now your total comes to 45 plus tax and you have all the spark plugs plus whatever else you just put in your cart. You just pay for it online and press pick up in the store and it's ready in an hour. *usually much less

I buy all my parts from advanced using coupon codes and it saves me a bunch of money, just trying to help out!

let me know if you have any questions but so far the denso iridium power plugs are working fantastic. I did sea foam before i replaced the plugs too, you might want to consider that if you plan to sea foam your truck in the future, do it before you replace the plugs just to be on the safe side.

Awesome. I've been meaning to order a set of plugs. Just used this code for 8 of the NGK laser iridium plugs, 2 packs of anti-sieze, and a long funnel. Ended up getting the whole order for $47. Not to mention, it looks like I'll get the free shipping too since my order was over $75 before the discount (thats the promotion they are running right now on their site). Brought the plugs down to $5.50 each....and I needed a new funnel anyway.

Thanks for posting the code.
