Mine pops into 4x4 easily and fast while in neutral. However while moving takes a long time. Is this normal?

I'd love to know the answer to this too.
My diff lock never engages while driving, only stopped and in neutral.

That's very odd.
Have you tried playing around with the gas pedal? I wouldn't let mine continue like that. It should work fine while driving straight and I'd suggest persisting until it does and then doing it frequently.

Mine is sort of that way. I theorize is has to do with the gears being under load, either in accel or deccel.
I notice it seems to lock up when I get off the gas after light accel or deccel.
CDL does not seem to care when I bother to cycle it.

Dialed in 4hi. Still takes a while to engage even if I come to a stop. More than 20 seconds. Anyway, 4hi seems to clunk in when I shift into N, then D. A soft "thud" is often immediately heard. Mine seems to like it that way.

Exercise it more frequently and it will shift smoother. Mine did.

Funny you respond today, a few hours ago I shifted in and out a few times. On the fly she is still slow, when going into NEUTRAL then DRIVE, she instantly engages. Hmmm.
