Anyone have 285's on Trail Edition Wheels?

I recently purchased a set of Trail Edition wheels off of a 2012 4R. I went to a local tire shop yesterday and the guy told me that I can't run 285's or else i would run into problems. Is anyone running 285's on Trail Edition wheels or 285's on 17 x 7.5 wheels? If so what tire brand/model are you running?

1: 7.5" width is the narrowest wheel to run a 285 width tires.
2: clearance with stock UCA's will be tight. Might require spacers to clear.

I forgot to mention that I have the Medium Duty 3 inch OME lift kit installed with the top out spacer as well. If i have to I will purchase 1.50 in All Pro Wheel Spacers and possibly a 1.5 inch Roger Brown BL

I have a 2009 4runner with 285/70/17 BFG KM2 tires. Just got them installed last week. I have trail edition wheels from a 2012 4runner trail.

I had to take off the front mud flaps. I pushed in the front fender liner forward as much as I could. Also trimmed the lower portions of the front bumper area.

Don't rub anymore with the tires.

I also do not rub the body mount at all. I'm a good 1 inch away when the wheel is turned and closest to it. Some people do rub there and some people don't so don't take anyone word. It depends on your alignment and which tire you buy. Each brand of tire is a slightly different size.

I would advise you to take off the front mud flaps prior to getting the new tires installed. The rest you can do when you get home.

Thanks alot Chmura! That's a nice looking rig you got there! I'll be sure to take the mud flaps off before getting them installed. Any problems with the rear? I also notice that you have Total Chaos UCA's. I'm wondering if 285's will rub my stock UCA's I'm willing to relocate fender liners and trimming to fit!

If you do not offroad you can leave the rear mud flaps on. But if you take it off and articulate the rear tires it's better to take them off. As they will rub pretty bad when the rear wheel is stuffed up in the fender.

I barely clear the UCA's that's where the tire is closest to any metal piece on the vehicle.
