Spare Tire Question

What's the largest size spare tire that fits underneath on a 17in wheel?

I know it's not smart but I'm still rolling with my stock size spare and I feel like I'm pushing my luck a little too much.

V6 or V8 makes a diff ? 27570/17 on V6 or aired down a bit , the V8 trailer hitch won't allow much more than 265/70

I put a 255-75-17. Narrow so it tucks up, but still 32.1" tall.

That's a good idea, I was hoping to put it in rotation, maybe there isn't a way around stowing it in the back.

I'm thinking of either 285/75R16 or P285/70R17 but I could be convinced to go a little smaller if I could fit one underneath.

Trailer hitch is different. Since the v8 can tow more, the trailer hitch is more encompassing.

On my v6 the 32" tire is tight, no way I could fit the 33" tire.

No wonder I couldn't fit that 33" tire under there! LoL I didn't know the hitch was different between v6 and v8. learned something new today

I've had a 285/70/17 under there for 2 years now. It's worn down but it fits. Just make sure you have clearance between the tire and panhard bar.

I have "E" rated BFG AT TKO 275/70-17's and they do NOT fit under the truck. I think the sidewalls are too stiff even when I aired it down to 12psi. I worked at it for quite a while and still had about half of the tread sticking down on one of the sides...if that makes sense.

Been running a 285/70 Duratrac w/ the V8 tow hitch for 6 mos with no problems. Has about 60% tread remaining and had to air it down to fit. As casper said - just make sure you have panhard clearance.
