Black interior trim?

Has anybody painted/converted their silver interior trim black? The center dash/radio bezel is a bit melted around the vent, and color matching metalics is a @#$@#! I was thinking just pull all of that out, and repaint it black. Not exactly sure on how it would look, though.

I think @kevinpt had done some dash painting, I saw it in a thread recently. Care to post a picture?

He did only did red plasti-dip on the little removable compartment that covers the bolt for the HVAC controls and the cupholder inserts.

Do a test with black plasti dip, and if you don't like it then no harm done. I think it would look pretty good, but you may have to paint match some other parts. I've actually been considering doing this for a while now

As long as you like the look, I think the only bad thing would be the smell of paint in your truck for a little while.

I flat blacked some of the smaller pieces almost 2 years ago and they turned out well. But as stated, you have to deal with the smell of paint of a while. haha. The smell wasn't that bad, I promise I totally didn't hallucinate 2 or 3 times and see a dwarf riding a unicorn...... haha.

In all seriousness , I think it would look good.

Or you could try 3M vinyl wrap. I was thinking about doing mine. Don't have to worry about even paint coating, runs, drips etc... And you can peel it off if ya don't like it.

If you do paint it be sure to hit it with a small grit sand paper first to rough it up a tad for better paint adhesion.

The only issue with that is there is the melted/cracked part. So I'm thinking maybe I'll buy some bondo, sand it all down and paint it? That or I can have my neighbor bring a paint deck home, color match it, and then have him mix me some paint up.

What a coincidence, I am getting my interior trim dropped off tomorrow to get hydro-dipped in carbon fiber look-alike. Will post pics when I get it back!

I definitely want to see this hydro drip stuff. Was thinking myself about getting my silver 3m di noc carbon fiber wrapped. Wasn't sure if anyone has ever done it.

Don't get me wrong. I am not the guy who thinks carbon fiber in a mid range work truck like a 4R is cool. I really want to get the interior trim of my car dipped, but don't want to experiment with the car parts yet. The 4R is just the sacrificial lamb, if the dipping looks good/realistic, I will then do the car which is the real intent.

Please post pics if you move forward with this process. I hate the silver trim in the interior and have considered painting it (probably black).
