Good to know. I really wanted one of those 31M Diehards, but now I guess I'll go with the Odyssey. Really like the idea of having the dedicated posts and the two accessory posts. Might stop by my local sears to see if they have any left in stock though.

Good luck. Be aware its an extremely heavy battery and it is a tight fit, if you find one. I had to readjust my front coilvers a bit after putting in this battery and a winch.

If you have a Batteries Plus by you, they sell the X2Power batteries. Northstar (the split from Odyssey) makes them. Look exactly the same. 10% off coupon if you order online for in-store pickup, and there is a $30 rebate right now.

Damn, my fronts aren't adjustable. Guess I might just go with a slightly smaller battery as opposed to the 31M. Maybe the 34R then.

I believe I saw in another thread that the stock battery is 60, and the 31m is 75. so we're talking 15 pounds.

Hmmm interesting. So after doing more research it seems the 31M would probably be overkill for me, both size and weight wise, but I really like the thought of having a bigger battery in general, especially one with additional posts for accessories. The Odyssey 34M AGM l found looks to be a winner. I don't know much about batteries, so what do you think?
Edit: Crap nevermind. I realized the posts are backwards for us and I would have to redo the wires...Damn

I was looking at Optima Blue Top. Spec sheet from Optima for the Blue Top - http://d26maze4pb6to3.cloudfront.net...pecs_Sheet.pdf
Blue Top is the marine AGM battery, has the dual posts. D34M or D27M are dual purpose, starting and deep cycle. Both fit in the OEM plastic battery tray. I like the marine screwdown connections.

Same specs as Interstate MTP-27F, I believe.
Cheaper than Optima from the Dealer. It was about $110 w/coupon.
But will I get 8 years out of it?

Update: Lasted exactly 3 years and they won't replace under warranty because it says "need charge" and not "defective" when they test it.

I still have the original Panasonic battery in the 2008 at 133,000 miles!
I had a yellow top Duralast in my 2000 last winter. I think it was just under two years old. One snow day when it was about 10 degrees I did donuts off road and the battery split and spilled all its contents. Autozone replaced it for free. They are not yellow on top anymore which messes up my Fisher Price theme under the hood.
I had an Optima red battery in my '89 for two years. Hint: Tacoma World has a great on line coupon for Advance Auto. I got it for 40% off ordering it on line and picking it up in the store. It went bad this summer but they have a three year warranty. It was replaced for free.
I do really like buying batteries from Autozone or Advance because they are everywhere and open more hours than Costco. Their computers remember the warranty.
