Opinions on this suspension setup

Best I can find the complete front taco swap, coils/struts, will net something between 1.5"-2" of lift. I'm also going to swap bushings and run the rear shocks do to having xreas. I also want to swap out the rear coils coause mine have 170k on them.

I want to be as close to the Daystar 2.5/1.5 height that I have now so I was thinking I would pair a toytec 1/2" spacers with the taco coilovers, then change out my rear springs and remove the rear spacer. I still want it to be level or have a slight rake. From what I have found it looks like the Moog 81081 for the Fj would yeild aproximately a 2" lift which seems as though it would fit the bill at the lowest price.

I'm not looking to make an all out offroader just replace an old Xreas and keep the current look at the lowest price. I was going to just go with 5100's but these tacos popped up locally for $150 with low miles so I took them.

Does anyone see any issues with this setup? I have seen a few issues involving the moog's not seating properly but seems others haven't had the issue???

I am also considering just running the Tacoma setup with OEM Fj rears and no spacers but I know I will loose a little height with this.

It's not exactly what you're looking for, but I have tacoma springs on bilstein 5100's up front. The whole strut fits too as far as I know it you want to go that route. I would say the springs alone gave me about 1.5 inch lift, my bilsteins are at 2.5 and I netted about 4 inches up front total when I lifted it a few weeks ago. As far as the backs go, I have no idea if they work or not. I run super flex and 5100 and love it. Hope this helps.

I've looked over your thread since you seem to be the most documented truck that has ran these and saw how much you liked them.

With your experience do you thing these with oem fj coils in the rear would be a pretty level stance or would you think there would be some rake one way or the other?

Also having run the 2.5/1.5 Daystar on xreas what size spacer if any do you think I would need to pair the taco coils with to get the same hight I am at now.

I ran tacoma struts and 2.5 spacers and was a good height. Taller than daystar in the front for sure. Not ungodly tall though. FJ springs and maybe still the Daystar would be a good height

I finally found this posted by @eric3187 @ on another thread.

Before and after measurements for anyone that may be looking.

"NOT FJ Coils

2003 V8 4x4 4Runner
Coils/shocks: 2011 Tacoma 4x4 TRD OffRoad yellow bilstien shocks and coils (progressive spring rate)
Drivers Side Front Before: 33 1/8"
Passenger Side Front Before: 33 1/4"
Drivers Side Front After: 34 3/4"
Passenger Side Front After: 34 5/8"
Total gain:
Drivers Side: 1.625"
Passenger Side: 1.375"

Rides much better! searching for FJ rear coils currently and will installed the Tacoma yellow bilsitens if they fit as they should allow more droop"

I'm looking forward to seeing some pictures of this setup. Someone local to me has a set of Tacoma front struts for sale right now and this would be a great and cheap way to get rid of most of the rake. Thanks for digging into this Cygan1008!

I will most likely be running the taco swap with toytec 1/2" spacers up front and moog 81081 springs rear in an effort to keep the stance I have now with the Daystar kit. I will post pics as soon as I get it all on.

Question for you guys. I know the lift from the springs/coils is going to vary somewhat so not sure which I want to go with. I want it as level as possible but not nose high so would you guys run the days star 1" spacers (2" lift) or the toytec 1/2" spacers (1" lift) with the moog 81081 rear fj springs or the moog 81045 rear 4runner springs with the Daystar 1.5" spacer?

Also I haven't been able to find anything on issues with the 81045's seating incorrectly, is it just an issue with the 81081's?

Tomorrow I will be putting in the extended studs and bushing swap for the rear shocks. Hopefully everything will go smoothly. If so I may try to do the swap this weekend.

With no clear cut numbers on the actual lift achieved from the swap I decided to keep the stock rear coils and Daystar spacers until I can see what the front looks like. After I will order whichever springs will match up best with the front height.

I'm hoping for 2-3/4 to 3" from the front with the taco coils, struts and toytec 1/2" spacers but I am expecting 2.5" or so.

It will be nice to see what you end up with on the front as I have the exact same parts ready to go for mine. The rear is holding me up because I really don't know how high it will need to be to match the front.

I just got a set too from someone at Tacoma World... 2010 4x4 TRD Offroad. I plan on installing them with a .5" spacer, I am hoping to fit 275's. Havent decided what I'm doing in the rear tho.
