Brake Wear

Replaced front pads and resurfaced rotors for the first time at 151,000 miles. I understand this is not unusual. Had work done at dealership. Now after only 45,000 additional miles, dealer says my brakes are 90% gone. Most of my driving is interstate. Does that sound odd to anyone other than me?

If your not driving in the city that much then it's not weird to see that since your not in stop and go traffic

That actually strikes me as odd that the pads lasted 150k, unless you're engine braking a lot to be honest. 45k doesn't sound too bad (since the pads aren't completely worn out, I think 90% gone sounds a bit much though), but then again it depends on how you're braking.

The odd part is that for the first 150K, I was driving more in the city. I have a service invoice from 70,000 miles that said I had 50% left. So the 150K was about right. Don't know why now they are worn out now after 45K, when most of the 45K was highway.

When they resurfaced the rotors, they probably left a rough surface on the rotor which ate the pads and/or they used cheap aftermarket pads.
