Awning to stock rack

I want to put an awning on the side of my 4runner but i dont have a aftermarket roof rack. Has anyone mounted their awning to the stock roof rails??

I must be extremely ignorant, 'cause I have no idea what you are talking about. What do you mean by an "awning" for a roof rack?

He's talking about a collapsible shade that extends off the side of the roof. Kind of like the Sunsetter you see on TV.

I don't have an official one, but I connect a tarp to my roof basket when I camp and fix it to either a nearby tree or some PVC pipes that I bring.

Ya i have been using a tarp but its time to just buy an awning. It comes in handy when I am tailgating and setting up a campsite. ARB had a 6.5 foot one I am looking at. Just wanted to see how people were mounting them if someone has mounted it to a stock rack.
