Lift supports for back hatch for 2008 4runner

One of my lift assist shocks for my back hatch on my 2008 4runner makes a high pitch screeching noise when I open it, so I think it's time for a replacement.

I called both Napa and Oreiley auto parts, and either has them. I then called the dealer and they gave me two different part numbers for the left and right:

68907 right
68908 left

The price is $155 each!

How can these be so expensive? What's so special about them?

I hit up ebay and found a couple for around $30 each. Will these work? Or where can I get some that will?

Thanks

If you know the dimensions, McMaster-Carr might have a solution.

I got some strong arm ones, they work pretty well and were only $55 or $60 for the pair. They're really strong. Sorry I can't remember the model number, but it was pretty easy to find with amazon or google though. I've also posted the model number and some pictures somewhere here on the forum (and on toyota120.com) but don't have time to search for it right now.

I had a problem with the lower mount coming loose on one side but strong arm happily sent me two replacement ends that solved the problem.

You can't really just pick up universal struts because the mounts are built into the OEM struts. The strong arm replacements come with new mounts that will allow the use of universal struts in the future (since the strong arms themselves are universal) should you ever need to replace them again.
