Smile Haven't seen a thread re: this suspension mod

Just had shocks and struts on my 2007 4Runner Sport with X-Reas changed out to Monroe Quick Struts and shocks. Capped off hydraulic lines per instructions found here and bypassed X-Reas. Change kept vehicle @ same approx. height with no modifications to springs other than to toss factory fronts since new springs are included with Quick Struts. Mechanic had to loosen or remove sway bar to attach struts but once that was done, it was easy installation from then on. Since I don't do any serious off-roading, this seems to work best for me. The factory struts and shocks were completely worn out and had ZERO fluid in them @ 75k miles!

4Runner rides as good if not better than it did when new. Bought struts and shocks on Amazon @ a better price than I found elsewhere. Total price including labor = $600.00.

That's great that it all worked out for you. When you say that you "capped off hydraulic lines", I am assuming that you are referring to the XREAS lines. Why didn't you just completely remove them outright? After all, it only takes about 10 minutes to remove all of the lines, mounts and reserviors.

I had a mechanic do this for me. He suggested leaving everything in place in case I decided to go back to XREAS. At some point, probably will have them removed.

There is no going back realistically. Too cost prohibitive.
