Good to know that the GX470 (first gen) is a direct swap!
Here's their Yelp page:
Mikado Motor Works - Gilroy, CA | Yelp

Their website is down at the moment.

The shop is run by a mandarin couple so there's a good chance that the steering wheels are made in china, but looking at the ebay post above this one, that one seems to be made in china as well

also, if the ebay wheel is a direct swap (and it seems like it is), that means you'll still have your steering wheel controls and your airbag!

PS: When installing, make sure you unplug the battery, you do NOT want to accidentally trigger the airbag while installing!

big debate over calling taiwanese Chinese or referring them as part of China.

I'm an 3rd generation American Chinese, with a great grand uncle that fought in WW2. So I know nothing about this debate lol, only that some will get offended. .. just saying.

Woke up this morning to notification that it's in Philadelphia right now@ 2 am. Maybe it gets delivered today to me!

YES!

So this post will be the DIY/Fittment/unboxing/good stuff post!

Maybe @zopperman can change the original topic to reflect it as a full DIY

So here goes.

Unboxing from Taiwan:
[/URL]

Sizing it up

My racing line mod :P and pictures of it unboxed and wrapper fresh

Old wheel before i took it off. So you can see what i started with and what we ended up with.
Disclaimer: You do this at your own risk, these are my pictures and i know what the hell i am doing. If your dumb ass blows open the airbag some how, dont blame me. If you think you will do that, go pay someone like me to install it for you. Stop being a cheap bastard, if you are a cheap bastard...You assume all responsibility if something is messed up, NOT ME!!

Ok back with the poictures again...

Pop off the two covers that cover the torx bolt to get the airbag off. there is one on each side of the wheel . Approx 830 and 330 position.

Its a Snap On T30 Torx. Use a good quality torx, this is NOT one of those things you want to strip getting it off. Really Really not fun when it does happen, what if it does and it could if it was on there tight!

Installation directions continued:

Did i disconnect my battery? No, should you? You should. I'm a pro it will not blow LOL...Dont try this at home kids hahahaha.
Ok with the airbag out you will see two connectors for the airbag. orange goes to orange. black to black. you need to pry the yellow clip up to release the two airbag connectors.

What it looks like inside with the airbag out

Disconnect this connector that for the steering wheel controls and cruise that go into the clock spring

what it looks like when the connector is out

Now the wheel is tilted to the left a little because i took the steering wheel bolt off and LOCKED the steering column. i took this picture as reference for me to see where the wheel was before i put everything back together.

Steering bolt is a 19mm.

The fun part. You should use a steering wheel puller. I dont have one, i used good old fashion muscle, yes i work out LOL hahaha. easiest way i found to get it off was, pull on the top towards you, then pull on the bottom towards you. rinse and repeat. basically wiggling it off. wiggle it, just a little bit remember that 80's song LOL

here is the back of the factory wheel. why you need to see it? i dont know but here it is.

Just in case, I tested to see if the splines lined up with the new wheel and my truck. It does indeed, i was getting happy now.
