Took a trip over to CT by LI cross sound ferry then to Massachusetts over to the NEA4WDC brook ridge property for some next level wheelin and camping! Awesome time!
Unfortunately I made a rookie mistake of doing work to the 4runner the day before the trip, I rebooted a cv axle and in the process stretched an ABS line and killed my ATRAC for the trip. This made some obstacles many times more difficult then they had to be. However the truck still did well and it just forced me to learn how to run it without any assists.

Damage report: while on a narrow off camber section of trail, I attempted to use the driver side tire to climb a large rock. without atrac, I needed more gas to climb it. Even while two footing the gas and brake it slide sideways from tire spin and into a tree stump just high enough to clip the bottom corner of the bumper. Nothing a few wire ties couldn't fix. Heres a few pictures

Some of the vehicles: me, another 05 4runner, 13 fj, 07 tahoe, first gen 4runner, 5th gen 4runner, Jeep on 1 ton axles with a chevy 6.2l swap

Now that I have resolved the issue here is what happened.

After Rebooting my drivers side CV axle for the second time in early October, I did the "Leave the abs sensor alone" method. which ended up being a bad idea.

When reinstalling the CV, it must of contacted the tip of the original sensor and broke it off into the sensor track. after putting it all back together, the debris from the sensor took out the rest of the sensor and melted into the hub. This triggered all the lights ( VSC ABS TRAC).

I first replaced the sensor since it was easiest. Which did nothing except break apart from the old debris still being there.

I then replaced the harness to rule that out and it was on sale.

Then I replaced the hub assembly and saw the magnetic strip that the sensor read was destroyed from the debris..

Now all lights are off and this is annoying issue is done.

Did a little cold weather run at Rausch creek PA. My buddy with the Tahoe and I Took some inexperienced and, never been off pavement jeeps from the city out on trails for the first time. Everyone did well. Was nice to have Atrac back for this trip after fixing the hub.
Will edit with more pics as they come in of the 4runner. Was really cold to get out and take alot.

Well its been a while since I posted. Usually take a little hiatus from doing anything truck related once winter hits.

Update* April 5th 2019

About to hit 148k
Need new rear tail gate latch actuator <---
Installed new Dash cam and review camera with rear view mirror monitor
Installed new super bright LED reverse lights

Recently changed the oil and did the black stone lab test.
This oil change was from October of 2018, which included a 1600 mile Fully Loaded up road trip up through Vermont, NH .. Up Mount Washington into Maine then 2 separate wheeling trips in Mass and PA and an entire Winter of daily driving.

Also a recent picture doing some house work, total trailer weight was 4400lbs. Not an issue at all.

Upcoming plans-
- Clean and paint frame, treat any surface rust and repaint skids.
- Transmission drain and fill
- Fix the tailgate latch
- Possibly upgrade rear springs to progressive rate HD
- Upgrade stereo head unit
- Possibly get some nice seat covers

June 17th 2019 updates 149,200k

Couldn't take pics, way too messy of a job

-Rebooted and greased Passenger side CV with SDHQ boots for second time. First set lasted about 5 years. These are original OEM cv's with about 150k on them. I hate doing this job but it saves about 300 bucks from buying a cvj or oem axle.
A few things to Note:
*REMOVE THE ABS SENSOR FIRST CAREFULLY, AND GET IT OUT OF THE WAY
- Do not fully remove the 2 LCA bolts until everything else is loose too.
- Turn the wheel fully towards you before attempting to disconnect outer tierod.
- The C clip on the end of the CV is a pain in the ass and theres no good way around that
-The clamps slide off when tightened on the diff side. A ziptie holding it helped.
*The CV notches tapped with a screw driver and hammer made it easily removable.

Rola rack came in, waiting for extension piece
Pricing out rear spring upgrade

I’m gonna tackle this tomorrow. I just finished the reboot. Thankfully I have a spare from the last time I bought one, I just kept the core so no tearing the truck apart to reboot first. As long as you take your time the reboot isn’t as bad as it sounds lol.

This past weekend we went to Anthracite Offroad Park in PA
AOAA FULL THROTTLE EXPERIENCE | AOAA Trails First time there and it was excellent. Other then being insanely hot outside.

Truck did excellent as usual. Considering the extreme heat and running AC it never had a hiccup. After several years of wheeling I finally earned my first Dent badge. steep hill climb with a sharp left turn I couldnt see the tree at the top and I was on the gas to hard to slow down so it wrinkled the passenger fender a bit.

Truck also turned 150k!

Below are some pics from the fun.

Have a Road trip to Maine planned this weekend. Getting some much needed mods and maintenance done in preparation for the trip over the last few weeks.

-Fresh Oil change mobile 1 high mileage extended 5w30 w/Oem filter
-Rear diff fluid change with Redline Heavy Shock proof 75w90
- Cabin Filter changed
- Freshly cleaned Pro dry S engine filter
- Greased drive line
- Rotated tires

-Replaced steering wheel clock spring due to airbag light staying on and throwing airbag code.

Exhaust broke at the tail pipe last week, Replaced with
-Gibson stainless cat back-
sounds good, very very minimal drone around 2000 rpm, have to workout some fitment kinks hitting the rear over axle cross member on bumps.

Upgraded rear springs to Metal Tech HD Long travel!
Sits about 2 inches higher unloaded then it did unloaded before.

- Still need to install front DUROBUMP upgraded bumpstops

Another successful on and off road trip in the books. About 1500 miles total travel from LI to Moosehead lake in Maine, then over to Bar harbor and Acadia National park. About 150 miles of off road exploring on logging roads and trails. Truck performed flawless.

-Durobump front bump stops were a notable excellent upgrade before the trip.

Nice thread, just curious though, how does your friends Tahoe do on the trails as compared to your 4runner ?

He has alot invested in it, and its taken quite a bit of trial and error to make trail worthy since there is no clear cut path of people who have really done it before him. But other then being huge to fit through some trails, it now does well. It does turn alot of heads and its fun to see that beast get thru obstacles.
