Wheel Swap - Another dumb question

So I've read and searched and think I have my answer, but I've also seen conflicting info, so I thought I'd pose a question for my exact situation.

I have the stock 18" limited wheels (18 x 7.5 ET24) and like many others, I want to swap out for a set of 17's.

I'm looking at a set of 17" Taco TRD rims (17 x 7.5J ET30). I also considered a fellow member's FJ's (which I would have preferred)

Am I correct in thinking that I should be OK - and the Tacoma wheels will stick out 6mm further or will these be 6mm closer to suspension goods? I also saw a set of 2014 4Runner SR5 (17 x 7J) wheel that have a 15mm offset. Do I need to consider backspacing?

I do have a Toytec 3" Ultimate Lift Kit and will be upsizing tires too.

Thanks and sorry for what probably is old news/question..

The offsets on both these wheels will work in your favor. Both wheels will stick out away from the vehicle not towards your suspension...

I'm pretty sure the offset on both sticks the wheels out a half inch

Hey, thanks guys. It was a bit of a rushed week as I was trying to prep for a trip Friday, but I missed my chance because I ended up confusing myself.

I opted to go with a set of Cooper Discoverer ATP 275/65 R18's. I'll save the 17" swap for down the road.

I did end up buying a set of the 2011 Tacoma rims (as I was undecided at that point) - those are the 17 x 7.5JJ ET30's - compared with my stock 18" Limited rims which are 18 x 7.5J ET25's. I used the rimsntires.com calculator and I think I just misread things. (Prior to seeing the posts above). The side by side comparison showed the INCREASED backspacing (further away from suspension), but the notes below said that package 2 would be closer to suspension components.... Up against a time constraint, I decided to stick to the 18's

Anyway, I now have a full set of 5, 18" Limited rims with new Coopers! I can stick with them or sell them as a set if I choose. Interesting, but I think it would look a bit better with spacers. I thought I detected a slight rub when cranked all the way left (not right).

Thanks for the help
