Wheel Offset: Please Help

Time for me to replace my wheels on my 2006 Sport. I went and got my Duratracs mounted and balanced and was told that my passenger side rear wheel was bent. Anywho, I was highly considering these as a replacement:

TRD - Part Detail

Now, these have a 4mm offset, and I believe my 2006 Sport's stock wheels are 30mm (correct me if I'm wrong.) I've calculated that these wheels would stick out 1.1 inches further than my current ones (I think.) My problem is, I'm running 1.25 Spidertrax and I feel that these TRD wheels combined with the Spidertrax will not work because the wheel will stick out too far, something like 2.25 inches further on either side. Am I correct?

I really love the stance of my 4Runner with the stock sport wheels and the Spideys, but I do need to get new wheels. Help me out. What should I do?

I have the trail edition FJ wheels and spidertrax and I love the stance. I believe they are the same offset as the wheels you are looking at.

You could take off the wheel spacers and with the new offset you would only lose .15 of an Inch. That's close enough for government work, and might not be too noticeable.

Check your state's transportation statutes and make sure it's legal for wheels to stick out beyond the fenders. 2.25 inches beyond stock seems a bit too far for a cop not to notice. It would suck to get a ticket for something like that.

Just noticed you live in PA. Good luck with that. My guess is the yearly inspector won't pass the vehicle. I grew up in the Harrisburg area and I know how ridiculous they can be.

I think all of the wheels that come on the fjs stick out .5" more than our stock wheels. I don't know why the ones you posted would be made to stick out further but I'm not sure. If you didn't want to lose your hub adapters you could go with an fj wheel set or lose the hub adapters.

your Sport wheels are 17x7.5 30mm offset. These wheels are 17x7 with 4mm offset. The TRD wheel will sit 20mm further out WITHOUT spacers. this is a little over ¾".

I just installed the black ones on a 07 Sport and couldn't be happier.

so in short.. FJ wheels or alike.. are an alternative to using a wheel spacer adapter like spidertrax on stock 4th gen wheels due to the offset difference. Correct?

I have read the inspection guidelines. It will pass inspection. I believe they can stick about 1/4 inch out, but many shops will pass them so long as they are not outrageously sticking out. My tires are flush as-is and I really want to keep them that way. If I run these wheels I'll lose a little width. I suppose I could solve that with 1/4 inch wheel spacers. The only other problem that I run into is these wheels are 7 inches wide and I'm running 285s...

As for getting a ticket, my good friend's T4R has LC wheels and Spidertrax and his tires stick out a fair amount past the flare. Cops around here are pretty lenient, and none of my friends have received tickets and many of them have wide stances. I don't drive my T4R anywhere but here in town, so no worries about getting a ticket.

Well, it depends. FJ wheels have 15mm backspacing while our 4runners have 30mm. That's only about .6 inches wider than stock, while Spidertrax give you 1.25 inches difference. 0mm backspacing wheels would be about equivalent to about 1.2 inches wider than stock, comparable to Spidertrax.

Mine sits perfectly flush right now, and I want to keep it that way. I might have to go with the FJ 8 holes and Spidertrax, because I want to stay with OEM rather than aftermarket and the FJ's only sit another .6 inches out. I wish Toyota made these in 0mm offset and 7.5 inches wide. Decisions decisions...

I put the Countersteer Type X wheels on my 4Runner to replace the sport rims with Spidertrax… the new wheels sit at just about the exact stance. I was interested in staying OEM as well, but went this route due to the weight savings. The Countersteer Type X with LT285/70 Duratracs weigh within a pound of the factory sport wheels, Spidertrax, and P265/70 Silent Armors.

Do you know if you can fit a TRD center cap in there. These ones look like they may work... One Replacement Center Cap for TRD Wheel PTR18-35092
