Welcome To The New Highlander/4Runner Forum!!
For those of you who missed Greg's announcement (it's here), t4r.org is undergoing some changes:
Quote:
After talking at length with Thai about this we've reluctantly decided to convert the forum into both a 4Runner and Highlander forum. Two reasons:
First, seeing as how the more fuel efficiet, car-based SUVs are the wave of the future in these times of high gas prices, we've decided that in an effort to keep this forum growing we should include our Highlander brothers and sisters.
Second and most importantly: Thai's fiancee has been getting on his case for spending so much time on this forum, and by includig the Highlander hopefully she won't mind as much.
This will not be a popular decision for some of you but it is final so please no whining about it (see forum rule #1).
|
Let's be sure to welcome all the new members this change will bring!

May be in this case Forum should have separate "Highlander discussion". This will helps Highlander owners to concentrate on their problems and suggestions. Just an idea...
I'd love to see Highlander on trails. I've seen one guy tried to follow us, but he stopped after first 100 feet and turn around.

Yes, i agree and vote on that one, that there should be seperate forums/sections for the highlander. How did yall plan on incorperating the highlander into the website and what changes will occur?

I actually wouldn't mind it, being a former Highlander owner. I'm looking forward to seeing the redesigned 2nd generation Highlander for 2007.
On the other hand, with these types of major announcements, it's all about timing...

right, yea im deffinitly for it, the more people we have the more information that can be spread around and the more this site is spread across www. land. I do think it will require more moderators watching for spam, trolls, and commercial ads not welcome, but it sound like everyone is up to it. I think it will be nice to have a change to the Forum here, deffinitly for it

I'm sure will see much more developed over the next few days. Maybe even tomorrow.
How about expanding to cover the new RAV4? I don't see the FJ Cruiser fitting in...I mean, we're talking about true SUVs with 4 real doors, not that "access door" junk.
We wouldn't want the new Highlander forums to look like they are "here today, gone tomorrow." Take your time.

This is sooo stupid am i the only one against this?
the highlander is a glorified sienna, anbody that owns one just uses it to pick up the kids from school. this is just as stupid as a idea as having a honda pilot forum! i think this website has been going down hill for quite awhile now, since about the 06 model year.
this website is just whoring itself sooo much it makes me sick, and i think i should just quit this site and move to actual 4runner board like yotatech!!!

So...i take it...that you're against this merger??
And this forum going downhill since '06 model year?! We're just in the first quarter of 2006...shit, i thought that we were going downhill since 2002!

maybe im just the only one that feels this way and im fine with that. im not knocking anyone personally but i just feel that with all these new owners coming on the board that it just seems that almost every post is very minimal in meaning and all that is ever talked about is of no substance. when i first joined the board everyday we had interesting topics and i would always be on the board and now its a rare occasion i ever feel like posting on a thread cause nobody has anything interesting to say. the offroading thread is always dead and after two attempts ive tried to get get-togethers and noone is ever interested, i know my interest in wheeling my runner offroad is not the same as most peoples interest in keeping theirs clean as can be... like i said i may be the only one but i just gotten so bored here

I think you're selling the Highlander short. I know it doesn't have low range but the traction control is so much better than on the 4Runner, I've seen 'em go places a 4Runner couldn't make it. And I'm talking steep, loose, rocky off road trails. It's incredibly underrated as a trail machine.

All kidding aside, remember the original purpose of this forum:
This is from our Welcome statement in 2002:
"This forum is created by Gatorgreg and I for the 4Runner enthusiasts! I have been looking for a dedicated 4Runner forum for a long time. Some sites are just too disorganized, while others are too hard-core into off-roading. I want to create one for the "average" 4Runner owner...someone who loves to drive to work everyday in a 4Runner, but also do some off-roading on the weekends."

Grow or Die
Great , now we can have the Runner crowd dogging the Highlander owners for owning "wanna-be" SUVs while the Highlanders call us macho, anti-green tree stompers!.
More things to argue about then the "V6 vs V8" and "X-REAS vs. non/X-REAS" debates.
Seriously, I think it is a good move - but why stop there? Might as well include the RAV4, Sequoia, Land Cruiser (if the model continues), and especially FJ as well. The new RAV4 can be optioned with DAC and HAC may even have slightly better offroad abilities than the Highlander and the FJ is built on the 4Runner frame. With the new Tundra just around the corner, a newly designed Sequoia can't be too far off. I would include the Lexus GX (RX and LX) owners too but these buyers really are a different breed for the most part. LOL
Might as wll expand the demogrphics since some of us may be owners of these other vehicles someday. Diversity and information sharing is a good thing. (Of course 4Runners owners know they have something special and will maintain our dominant role!)
Will the sight still be called T4R?

I deffinitly agree with that statement. I mostly see it in the 3rd gen forum as thats where i normally am posting. I open a thread titled: "subs"/"lift"/ or my favorite, posted by "drew": Whats for Dinner? . We still have an off-topic section right? And once you open the thread, its one or two words such as: "what are good subs" or "best 2.5' lift"
So i can deffinitly understand where your coming from.
I really dont see how the highlander aspect will affect anyone in the 4runner section though if they are in different sections because why would a highlander post their issue in the 4runner section?
The way i see it, i beleive it will add more to all of the universal to toyota sections with out touching the 4runner specific sections, such as 4th/3rd/classic TR4s. However i do think the general discussion need to be specified as 4runner GD. Also to destinguish between the 4runner and highlander members yall should create a code to change our member names to red and blue for 4runner and highlander or something of the sort(just a suggestion to show effectiveness of who joined for what reason).
After all Thai and Gator might start the Highlander aspect of the TR4 website and it all fall through for one reason or another. Maybe not enough members join for that reason, or it just doesnt work out for one reason or another, so dont get too excited and go leaving just yet.
