If you wanted to replace the head unit but keep the stock amp, you would simply need to add a pac tato interface to the amp

Power is a nonissue in this case since you have JBL. You're not going to be using the aftermarket HU amp, you'll buy an adapter for the JBL amp and sound will still be going through the JBL amp via preamp out RCAs->adapter->OEM JBL connector->JBL amp. The JBL amp will still be processing the sound and translating it to the speakers just like if the JBL HU was in there.

As far as your ipod/aux needs just an HU should solve that, could add bluetooth as well with most modern HUs. I'd probably get one with 3 preamp outs though, so you don't need to tap into the JBL amp for your new sub.

I should get some pictures for you. I have the same radio installed and it works well with the steering wheel controls, matches the interior well and sounds better than stock. If you're not after a navigation unit, I recommend this one.

I would love to see some pictures! I'm hesitant to replace the JBL deck because I don't want it to look bad. So far people have said that it looks like it's stock once installed.

Also, do you have the deck hooked up to the original 10 speaker JBL system?

I dont care about NAV, I have a smartphone that I'm used to for that.

Sorry for the delay, here are the photos as promised.
I don't have the JBL system either. Just the most basic setup from the factory...
On to the pics.

Night shot.

Close up of the front facing USB.

Couple of bad things about the radio.
1. The front facing USB. I cut into the HVAC setup a bit to run a USB cable. It doesn't look bad, in fact I kinda like it, but the cable is putting stress on the HVAC panel and sometimes the LED's don't come on until you give it a tap. I think I'm going to cut the hole a little larger and see if I can relieve some of the stress.
2. It's a glossy face. So far, no problem, but when this radio was in my Taco it was often obscured by sunlight shining on the screen. If it becomes a problem in the Runner I think I'll add an iphone anti-glare screen for a few bucks. So far so good though.

The sound is excellent and bluetooth is set up and running. It's nice to have hands free phone calls.

I did the LED swap yesterday, not only was it easy, but it looks great and adds increased functionality.

The kit did not include replacements for the vanity lights, I'll have to just grab them at the auto store.

I'd like to replace the dash and HVAC lights with white as well, but I'm a bit leery of soldering. I might need to recruit a buddy.

I also ordered the smoker's kit and dual-port usb adapter which I'm stoked on. I think it makes for a cleaner look and adds functionality.
