I would assume we won't se this until at least in the mid to late end of next year. New products like these usually aren't top priority for vehicles that aren't Brand New soo they'll take quite a bit longer unfortunately..

FYI....I just posted this in the 5th Gen section:

So after spending about 20 minutes on the phone with the Safari brand rep at ARB in Renton, I have a few more details regarding the 5th Gen Snorkel.

As mentioned above, Safari will be sending a rep over from AUS in mid-March. During that time, they will be doing a few test fittings. These include an "off tool" fitment of the 2nd Gen Tacoma snorkel, a 3D model fitment of the 4th Gen 4Runner snorkel, and a 3D model fitment of the 5th Gen Snorkel.

To put that in a little bit of perspective, back in November of 2014, the snorkel on the 2nd Gen Tacoma was the original fitment of the 3D model. They have since made the tooling for the Tacoma snorkel and will be doing the original fitment during the mid-March visit to ARB USA.

His prediction was the 5th Gen Snorkel will not take as long as the Tacoma snorkel to tool and get into production. He said there have been delays in the Tacoma snorkel, to include the fact a lot of Australia companies shut down in December for their summer months (according to him).

With that info, as long as there are not any major hiccups in the design and tooling, we could very well see the final product by this Summer. I will be calling them back after the March visit to get his opinion on how the 3D model fitment went.

Regardless, this is definitely coming, so I am excited. I will be waiting for the Safari snorkel because I feel it is a superior product. I have run a Safari snorkel on my 98 Tacoma for the past 10 years and it looks brand new. Another cool tidbit he mentioned is that the snorkel body could be run over by your vehicle and it will not collapse. Can't say that about the fiberglass models.

Hope these details help everyone out.

Jason

Edit: For futher clarification, a 3D model is produced by taking 3D scans of the fender, windshield, and inside the engine compartment. In addition, they perform flow tests on the intake to ensure the Safari snorkel is not reducing the factory air flow in any way. Once the 3D model is made up, it has to be test fitted. After the 3D model is test fitted and additional air flow tests are performed, they make the necessary changes and create the tooling. That is when they produce the off tool design and test fit it. If everything is good to go, they begin producing the final product.

This lines up with a conversation via email that I had with ARB USA.

Basically, ARB is at the mercy of Safari's schedule. A 3D prototype is en route to the States for test fitting with engineers. Then he said a few months as they make production.

Rest assured folks - I will be doing a group buy the second I can get my preferred vendor of choice to get his hands on them from ARB!! Hoping that they will be sub-$400 price range.

But I'm thinking May at the earliest, realistically probably July though.

realize we're not at the May mark yet... But any word on when the snorkel will be released? It's starting to warm up here in Denver and I'm getting excited for some summer runs.

I have not followed up with ARB, but I read in a different thread that the production snorkel should be ready for purchase this Summer. I will give them a call to see if this is accurate.

We have a representative from Safari Snorkels that will be fitting some prototype snorkels starting tomorrow on the 6 cyl and 8 cyl 4th gen 4runner as well as the new 5th gen 4runner. Stay tuned for updates we should have better information next week.

Is this for V6 or V8? I've read on the interweb (must be true right?) that a snorkel hurts performance. Anyone have experience either way? I mean it is a true cold air intake.

So did they tell you when it's going to be available to the public? I do business with ARB and asked an inside source last week and this was his reply -

"From what I hear it will be late this year or early next. We have the prototype's fitted to some 4Runners now. It is just getting the tooling up and running.?

Tell me good news.

I got that issue of the magazine as well.

Did ARB fit snorkels on both 2003-2005 and 2006-2009 4runner? Reason I ask because the fender flares are different between pre/post face lifts. 2006-09 4runner have more bulging fenders.

I highly doubt you can use a 2003-2005 4runner snorkel on a 2006 and vise versa.

Can the OP confirm or not ARB tested the snorkel on both vehicles??
