Angry 3rd Brake light on Spoiler

Does anybody have an idea of how to fix the 3rd brake light in the spoiler for a 2005 4Runner Special Edition?
I managed to unmount it but I don't see a way to get inside to the light to replace the bulb, LED or whatever is inside.
Here are some pics.

from the FSM...a little confusing to me, but maybe it will make sense to you since you have it in your hand

I'm fairly certain toyota considers this a LRU (line replaceable unit), e.g. not repairable so you may be SOL and have to order a new one, plug n play style.

side note: What the heck is a 2005 4Runner "Special" Edition... You may consider figuring out what model you have before you go trying to repair your brake lights...Not hatin', just sayin'....

I assume you've ruled out all wiring, fuses, relays etc to the light?

Check these guys out too, they were quick to ship and reasonable in price when I was searching for a brake light for a snug top.
They may be less expensive than Toyota.

@VolcanoT4R , I did have that PDF with me when I unmounted it. It is similar but not the same. @NuclearN8 , I appologize, it is Sport Edition, not Special, I guess I was thinking on something else and I got the model mixed up. @eviele , I believe that, I'll provably ended up buying the whole light like the ones in that website as @VolcanoT4R mentioned.

How you manage to take it off, there's 2 Philips screw behind the spoiler , but take out the whole spoiler for room.

Ok guys, sorry that it took me 4 ever to reply but with the holidays I'm busy and other stuff.
Anyways, I learn that you have to buy the whole light and replace the burned one in the spoiler. You have to unmount the spoiler in order to reach an auto - tap connector inside of it to unplug the light and replace it.
not hard but a pain considering that all it was is a stupid brake light. My father in-law helped me and it took us about an hour or so to do it. It was fun but ridiculous for what the issue was. I took pictures and put them together in a slide show and uploaded in youtube. Here is the link:http://youtu.be/NMJ4dTdPeWs
Let me know what do you guys think.

Thanks
SuperTico

Spoiler 3rd Break Light Replacement - Repost

I spent some time reading the different threads about replacing the 3rd break light that is attached to the spoiler. (Not the High mount 3rd light on the rear Hatch)

I haven't found anything that specifically answers some of the questions so I'm reposting to see if anyone is able to assist.

04 4x4 Ltd with Spoiler.
Spoiler LED bar is not functioning it does't come on when breaking but the 3rd High mount behind the spoiler does work.

I was able to remove the 2 caps, unbolt it and pull it back and didn't see any wiring issues there.

- Has anyone replaced this and rewired a new one?
- Can someone tell me if this is wired to the high mount break light or separate?
- Does anyone have troubleshooting tips on checking the wiring along the circuit board, circuit board diagram, and or harness connections?

It looks like there was a video posted on how to replace this but it's no longer available on youtube.

Any guidance is appreciated.

Thanks
J.

@SuperTico are you still online here. Do you have the video still as the link doesn't work. I'm dealing with some of the same issues and was looking for some insights.

Recently did a write-up on how to fix the light if the wire has a bad contact.

@BagiMT thanks I had a read and might explore that option. I also found this and for the $45 might be a good option Spoilerlights.com| Spoilerlights, Spoilers & 3rd Brake Lights. I'm just trying to figure out if there is a way to check all the wiring to ensure I don't go wasting time taking things apart and or replacing. Very much appreciated!

LEDs usually don't burn out, much less all 9 of them. If it stops working it is most likely the wiring (don't know if that light is on a separate fuse, something to check). In my case I could tap on the light and it would go on and off, but that might vary. Taking the spoiler off only takes a few minutes, taking the light out a few more.
