Shifting too fast

Is it normal for my VSC light to come on and for my truck to make that weird beeping noise if I shift from reverse to drive too fast?

yes.. and its not very good on your tranny either.

I would say that its somewhat normal as long as you aren't going very fast at all in reverse. I think what you are doing is engaging the HAC (Hill Assist Control) when you shift into drive while rolling backward. The computer compensates by engaging the brakes which is part of the VSC system.

I've had it happen a couple times when shifting too fast, the truck freaks out, slams on the brakes, and starts beeping and I get a quick whiplash. I think the brakes engage faster than the tranny so it may not be that bad, depending on how fast you shift.
