Which headlight bulbs?

I know PIAA are great bulbs...but i just cannot afford them. I am looking at two different brands.

IllumiStar and Luminics.

Here are the two links. They are both similarly priced.. Does anyone know which one is better or have them on their cars? Any help would be GREAT! Thanks

IllumiStar:

Luminics (Hyper White)

THANKS AGAIN FOR ANY HELP!!

I don't mean to be offensive at all but those bulbs are overpriced, will probably burn out faster than your stock bulbs, and are possibly less bright than your stock bulbs. If you're looking for an upgrade in light output then I'd highly recommend the H11 (with the H9 bulb) bulb from,

http://www.danielsternlighting.com/

They're $13.50 PER BULB so it'll be cheaper than PIAA and those other brands.

If you're looking to upgrade your High Beams then I'd look into the 9011 HIR bulbs. You can also buy these off of Daniels website.

As far as the foglights go, I'd leave them stock, buy a selevtive yellow bulb, or go with the 9012 HIR bulb (For off road use. Might cause glare if used in the city.)

The HIR bulbs can also be purchased on ebay. Just type in HIR and you'll find the bulbs. HIR bulbs are awesome... They're the brightest/safest halogen bulbs we can buy for our 4runners because they don't use HIGH wattage to produce more light output but rather, sweet engineering to make them bright.

If you're looking for a "blue" look for your headlights then go and buy any old brand I guess...

Sorry this post is pretty random and everywhere. I'm in a hurry. I really hope this helps.

I never heard of any of the bulb's you mentioned. My only experience has been with Sylvania Silverstars. I like the light alot but still think they are over priced and I personally have had problem's with them lasting for any length of time.

There is another bulb that is out and was written up with good reviews in Nov. 05 wheeler and it's called Philips Vision Plus , but I have yet to try them.

I'M SORRY!!! I thought you had a 2006 4runner... I just guessed you had a 2006 for no reason. I would def. e-mail Daniel Stern because he knows what he's talking about.

The Daniel Stern site has alway's had good lighting and info ever since I can remember.

Even though I had Silverstars and had good light , but bad longevity , I'm sure knowing me I'll have a set in the 4R soon.

Do most of you who switch light's just do low beam's,high beams or fog's ? On my Tahoe I switched all 3 set's ( costly) and the one's I had the most problem's with were the 893 fog's , I almost had to but them in bulk. On my f150 it was low beam's and fog's that went regularly.

I bought Silverstars for another one of my vehicles from this place in the U.K. If you read up on stuff from this website, I think you will find that the European version of some of these bulbs are brighter, but not as "blue" as, the same brandnames sold in the U.S.

I found that even though they are delivered from the U.K., the bulbs were less expensive (incl. FREE shipping) than if I bought them here in the U.S.

I've tried about 5 or 6 different brands of bulbs and am now a huge RAZO fan. I have the RAZO Premium White Zero bulbs and there is absolutely NO yellow - it is pure white with a hint of blue. Lights up the road very well and looks good to boot.

I have PIAA and they were yellow. The Silverstars look yellow next to the RAZOs. The Luminics where white but the light output sucked.

I also have the Nokya Arctic White and they're pretty good, I put em in the Lexus but haven't tried them in the Runner.

Just my two cents.

The Silverstars you're referring to are the Osram version sold in Europe. The ones here in the US are Sylvania.

Yes, but they really are the same company. I believe the European regulations allow for brighter lights to be used than the U.S. DOT standards, but I'm not sure.

Osram Sylvania
