There is a slip yoke on the front of the t-case as well, it's likely under-greased. Make sure to use a moly grease, and hit the rest of the front zerks with MP grease while you're under there.
Also, when was the last time the front diff and t-case oils were changed? I had a small clunk in 4hi in my 3rd gen (also multimode) but a little extra grease took care of it.
