4th Gen Tire & Wheel advice

Hey guys I am getting a lift on my 4th Gen on the 30th of this month.
I am getting Stage 2 icon(3") with 2.5 res in the rear and Total Chaos UCAs up front.
I off road often nothing too serious just a weekend warrior.

In your opinion whats a good tire and wheel combo? Considering rubbing issues (duratracs were my first choice)

are 285s really worth the body mount chop ?

Thanks for any input.

I run 285's and i did some minor trimming to the well but nothing else on 18x9's.

I would say this to anyone though, 18's are both expensive to buy and the corresponding tires are much more limited and expensive than 17's.

Also, if you want to powder coat and take it off road, don't. I powder coated mine and now i wish i'd have rattled canned them. They chip and i can't fix them.

Cant speak to 285's but I just put on some Cooper st maxx and so far so good...I went 255's ...also rattle canned some fj steelies. ..would have done powder coating but to DC's point...touching them up would be tough! Hope to try the Cooper's out off-road next week!!

Just curious what made you choose body lift over getting springs all around or other options?

I’m running 285/75/16’s on my runner. I have. 2.5 inch lift up front and 1.5 in the rear. Didn’t think they would fit but I managed to somehow stuff them under there lol. No body mount chop either, just moved the fender liner forward

Running 285/65r18 with no body mount chop. Trimmed the fenders a bit, but that’s it.

A lot of reports on this site with that size fitting with no lift at all

I mounted 285/70R17 Falken Wildpeak AT3W earlier today. Rubs a tiny bit. Not as bad as what you hear when rubbing. Like others said, minor trim.

We did those size of tires on my wife’s 2005 with no lift and they fit just fine. The Hanook Dynapros were a good match for mostly highway, some snow and mud.

I'm trying to figure out if LT275/70R17 fit on the stock suspension with minor rubbing but nothing big.

On stock wheels I put on 265/70R17 and rubbed the frame near lock. With the larger diameter, as listed, you'll probably rub sooner and may catch on the front mud flaps.

I've read that the 275 size usually shares the same tread mold as the 265, so the cross section is wider but the tread width/contact patch is the same.
