avalon remote start on 4Runner

Does anyone know if the 08 Toyota Avalon remote start can be made to work on the 4runner? or if at least there is an equivalent for the 4runner to do the same? http://www.toyotapart.com/PT398-07081.pdf

Go aftermarket like Compustar. Way more features and it doesn't turn off when you open the door!

I agree with this opinion. Compustar is great.

Everything on this car is factory perfect and it is in MINT condition. That is why I want to keep it all as close to factory as possible which is why I won't use a system unless I can keep the factory fob. Not to almost every aftermarket fob I have used broke a lot easier than the stock ones. If anyone has anything that would help here I would really appreciate it.

My plan B was to use the avital 4003 with a bypass module and the factory key fob. The only issue I have with this is the stupid ECU on the 4runner disables the fob once the motor starts. This means when you remote start the car it locks and then won't let you unlock it. If I could find a way around that I would be golden!

Compustar. It locks and unlocks regardless of engine running or not. I am not sure what avital is but seriously there is a reason Compustar was Mercedes OEM remote start in North America.

I've had my fob since 2008 no problems.

I have looked at compustar, but it seems I can't use my OEM remote. The biggest deal for me is I want to keep the oem remote.

who says you cant?

You can. You can have it setup to arm and disarm the compustar when you hit the oem fob to lock or unlock. you can have it setup to remote start via 3 lock pulses. un lock you will have to insert key or use something to unlock it like a EZ-go or drone mobile unit.

But yes it can be done. You are not talking to the right people.

here i am with a 2014 mini cooper using a oem keyfob. it can be done

mercedes using the oem remote to remote start

one more mercedes just in case you missed the first one

you get the point now? LOL

@gm350reratliff one of the many reason i love compustar and dislike those snakes :P

That is why I was thinking that the factory kit would be best. I would be able to remote start and unlock the car with the factory fob. The issue I have with the aftermarket kits is if I keep the factory remote once I start the car I can't use it to unlock the car and get in. The car lives outside so if I need the remote start it is because the car is covered in ice/snow and the key would be a bad idea at that point.

Why are you so hung up on the factory remote? The factory remote is garbage and has a horrible range. An aftermarket DEI remote start will give you more options, has a better range and works as well or better. Plus it's more easily programmed than factory.

You can always stash the factory remote away until you sell the truck. Then it will still be perfect. The OEM fob will always work even with an aftermarket unit installed.

Anytime @gshadow325 .

I get why he wants to keep it all stock. Some people have the OCD worse than others.

Toyota does many things well, but unfortunately making good-ranged, feature-rich remote starter modules is not one of them.

well remote start on a 4th gen was not in toyotas design plan. so aftermarket is necessary. in the newer 5th gen it was part of the design. YET the OEM remote starter SUCKS! aftermarket kicks it butt all day long.

I litterally just did a 2011 lexus es350 2 minutes ago using the OEM fob, real neat, real cool how it works. Now that vehicle the OEM remote works for both locking and unlocking after its started.

video... @ 6pm lol

Was that with an aftermarket or factory remote start? Is there anyway to do it on 4th gen?
