Remove extra 'shelf' in trunk area
On my '06 4runner, in the back trunk area, there is an extra 'shelf' that can fold up for extra storage options. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of this feature since one of the main reasons I bought a 4runner was so my dog can hang out in the back and look out the rear window. With carpet there I can tell it will tend to stain and acquire more of a 'dog smell' throughout the car. I was wanting to replace the original carpet mat with a tougher material. How can I remove this extra folding shelf I have no desire for?

this is what you're looking for. Just know that there will be a gap between the two pieces of carpet once you remove it.
