Anyone have an iDatalink Maestro installed?

I'm looking at replacing the factory stereo with a Kenwood DDX5901HD or DNX691HD. Has anyone installed one of these units in their HU? Pros/Cons? Installation will be done by company that I buy HU from. One thing I do like about it is that it can read/reset check engine codes and it gives a numerical value for the tire pressure.

I know this is a super old thread but did you ever install the maestro? I'm looking into it as well for a 2005 limited with nav.

if you guys made an account at the idatalink maestro site, it gives a good detail wire diagram. also when you download there software to program the unit, you get alot of options. im only using the maestro sw and its pretty good. now the newer stuff, your truck may or may not support some stuff.

Yes, i got it installed and love it. Only downside for my model year 4R, is that it does not give a numerical value for my tire pressures. TPMS was still in the early stages of being standardized that my TPMS module only sends out 'good/bad' single to the ECM.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I too am considering the Maestro unit and have a 2005 4runner. I'm finding really sketchy info on the early 4th gens compatibility on this unit (2003-2005).

Do you have backup camera working?

And which harness (HRN-HRR-T01 or HRN-RR-T01) and unit (MRR or Mrr2) did you end up using?

Update 5/14/24….So I wanted CarPlay in my stereo so I bought another kenwood gps unit with CarPlay around 2019. In doing so, I had to update the Maestro unit as well as the old unit wasn’t compatible with my new head unit. When I did this, I was able to get tire pressure AND tire temperature values!

The head unit I got was a Kenwood DNX697S. You would have to check and find out which Maestro unit is compatible with that unit. I paid someone to do the install. My rear camera works.

I got the Maestro working with HRN-HRR-T01 on a 2005 4runner limited with a Pioneer DMH-W4660NEX , with the exception of the backup camera, and the following connections: illumination, parking brake. The problem is that the harness HRN-HRR-T01 doesn't have plugs for the backup camera (4pin, arrange in a 2x2 plug) . And since there's no illumination, I get no dimming of the head unit when I have the lights on (leading to a glaring display at night) and as there's no parking brake I imagine I wouldn't have any HDMI video.

Fortunately I have the pinouts for the connectors on the car side, and will have to make my own harness but this is not an out of the box solution.
