Alternatives to FJ springs?
Hey all, I have seen the sticky on different suspensions set ups and am about ready to pull the trigger on the adjustable Bilstein 5100's. I am having a heck of a time finding 07-09 FJ springs though (and even then they will probably have some miles on them).
Do you guys have any suggestions for other (preferably new) springs that I could run that will give me a similar or better set-up with the 5100's? Coming from original XREAS with 220k miles so looking forward to better and higher ride!
Thanks in advance!

I was thinking about getting new springs from an auto store. I tried looking for used and also couldn't find many.

I too had a difficult time finding springs or rather finding people who were willing to take my money and ship me the springs they had over on the FJ cruiser forums. It took me about 3 weeks to source a pair of fronts and a pair of rears separately for a cost of $105 shipped total. Just keep looking and waiting, and jump on them when they pop up.

Will do. Currently working on getting a full set that have 75k on them - too many miles?

I have been looking into it and I was thinking about just getting new OEM replacement coils. They will be more expensive but wont have any wear from previous usage, hopefully giving me the most height out of them. Has anybody done this or have any problems with it? Anybody know of a good place to find OEM parts besides the dealers?

With tacoma fronts do you keep the stock rear? Or fj coil rears? I would love my truck to sit higher. It seems the 4th gen is the lowest sitting 4Runner out there and also to sit level.

You could keep the stock rear. The TRD Tacoma coils should give you 0.5-1.5" of lift depending on V6, V8, 2wd, 4wd

I found the Tacoma TRD gear much easier to source and locally on craigslist.
Here is my experience with the swap.

yes, i did the 5100s on highest setting and moog fj coils. Although HIGHEST SETTING ON 5100S IS not recommended because of cv axle angles. But my angles looked fine after the install. I did not take exact before and after measurements , i think i netted about 5 inches total. I believe the moog fj coils give you about 1 inch.

i ended up using trd offroad tacoma front coils and fj rear coils on my 4th gen and only spent $40 total on springs. basically any of the fj coils or 6 lug 2nd gen tacoma coils work. just check tacomaworld and the fj forum. if you find a local toyota facebook page like i did it was simple to find free coils local
