4th Gen TJM Air Compressor Mount Under Hood

I know there have been threads on under the hood mounted air compressors in the past but I wanted to share my easy (if not cheap) solution for mounting a compressor in the engine bay.

My requirements were:
1) Compressor that fit in the space in a V8 4th gen
2) Ease of installation
3) Potential to hard wire the compressor for future use with a Locker

I chose to use the following:
-TJM Air Compressor
-Dirty Parts Dual Battery Tray for FJ Cruiser / 03-09 4Runner (modified by cutting off ~1inch from the side in order to make room for compressor air filter).
-Couple of extra spacers to mount the Z bracket.

Here are a couple of pics of what it looks like installed.

Overall, I am very happy with the setup and it was super easy to install. I keep the alligator clips and hose stored in the cabin and I can quickly get it setup to inflate tires (primary use right now). The TJM has rubber feet and fits perfectly in the battery tray. When tightened down with the battery bracket it stays in place and doesn't move at all while running.

Just thought I would share. I will post a few more photos of the mount and battery tray later. I'm happy to answer any questions regarding the setup.

Here is what the Z bracket looks like installed in the Fender. I needed a few extra spacers to level this out and raise it to the height I wanted.

Here is what the battery mount looks like by itself. Note the raised edge on the right hand side is what I cut down ~1" to be able to fit the compressor.

Hey man, really digging the setup you have there!

I am wanting to install a compressor into my engine bay as well. I have an 03 V8 and i think i am leaning towards the ARB dual compressor. Im thinking the dirty parts tray might be the best thing to start with so i can drill holes in to it or something in order to mount the ARB compressor down.

As for the dirty parts tray, is it basically drop in and bolt in? There is not extra drilling required for its installation right? If thats the case, then it seems like a perfect base layer for a compressor. Thanks!

4th gen air compressor modification

Hey guys I'm new to the forum here and a proud new owner of an 03 limited. It has the RAS and I'm dumping that and xreas and possibly doing the toytec ultimate lift. I was wondering if anyone has ever used the original compressor as an on board air compressor for tire reinflation?

I tried to create a thread concerning this but apparently I can't create a new thread being a new member. I've done some searching but haven't found that anyone wise had attempted this or made it happen. ...
