FS - 06 V8 Sport, getting ready to sell
I apologize if this is ruled a feeler thread, I am not ready to lock in a price but I've decided that I'm ready to sell my 06 V8 sport to the right buyer. Pics are limited size here, but once I have her good and cleaned up I can post/email more. I bought this 4runner in 2016 with about 90k, that's 9k/year for it's first 10 years and it came with impeccable service records that I still have. It's now pushing 185k, with a LOT of highway miles. There's a lot more good than bad, so I'll start with the bad.
The biggest issue is probably the rear hatch. Best bet is probably replace the whole thing because it has more than one problem. Hatch mechanisms are struggling, electronically, and there is also a lot of rust in the hatch only. This was a midwest vehicle and it definitely suffered from the salt. There is also some rust in the driver side entry, surface only, where you would kick the snow off your boots. Aside from that the body is rust free.
There's a lot of corroded small mechanical parts that have been replaced, brake lines, sensors, rubber parts, etc... but I'm sure there's some left. When I bought the truck in 16, I added a 3.5yr extended warranty and definitely maxxed it out. Prior to it expiring I had all brake systems, upper and lower control arms, joints, boots and much more replaced. Altogether about 9k worth of work, all at a Toyota dealer. All routine maintenance has been performed, including timing chain around 130k. Tranny is still good, but I wouldn't be surprised if it needs replacing sometime in the next couple of years, which is pretty normal.
Aside from that, this thing is a beast and has never let me down. Bilstein 5100 upgrade (about 2.5" lift) with new springs was performed in 2018 by ChiTown 4x4, who I HIGHLY recommend (look them up!). They only do Toyota. Also .75" spacers, magnaflow exhaust, 2 rear cat's are new, new parking brake assembly, Brand new Toyo Open Country 265/65's (trust me this is the right size for this truck unless you're in mud every day), Helo 17" rims, new headlight assemblies with LED DRL's that I get compliments on all the time, new battery, radiator, fresh dealer flush and sythetic refill of both difs, tranny, and transfer case, and there's much more new that I am forgetting. Everything works except the rear wiper, which would be replaced with the hatch if I were to keep this.
Cosmetically, it needs new driving lights ($30 on Amazon), a new or repainted front grill, and a lot of cleaning which I will be doing before I post any more pics. Most of the exterior plastic is fading, but the rest of the car can be buffed out pretty good. Back gate will be a problem eventually, as mentioned.
I have been driving an awesome older 4runner since 2001, my '94 lasted until I bought this one (350k). I love them and it has been well taken care of. But I'm ready to drive a new car for the first time in my 47 years of life and I want someone who appreciates how sweet these are to enjoy it while she's still got a LOT of life left. I'm putting 50-75 miles/day on her right now and she deserves better. (17mpg by the way).
I'm ready to accept real offers, more pics will be coming soon once I get her freshened up a bit. All input is welcome, and thanks!
Brad
