how much rust is normal on a 2006??

Hey guys just noticed while I'm getting my transmission fluid and filter changed that the rear OME 895 springs are getting rusty. Also noticing it around the exhaust. Is this all normal rust from doing some off reading and just normal wear and tear?

How many miles?

That may be normal to slightly above normal rust for where you live. Down here in the southwest, I have zero rust on my 2008 with 132k miles.

That is a bit more than mine but in the ballpark.

My springs don't have any rust but the back of my differential and the weld joints in general near the back of the vehicle are pretty rusty.

Here in NC we are medium for saline solution on the roads. I'm pretty sure those who had it before me were pretty diligent about rinsing the salt away.

i live in CT where its heavily salted from late october until march, and i don't really have all that much rust. i try my best to wash everything off at least once a month if i can, and that keeps the rust away

mine looks about the same. I take a wheel brush to it in the summer to clean it up a bit and then apply rustoleum satin black to slow the rust..

That's not too bad IMO. When I was looking at 4Runners around here, there was one with 56k miles on the odometer and the entire underneath was just covered in rust. It's a shame really...

Any time you drive on streets that have been treated with salt,it's very important as soon as Temp. gets above freezing, to wash the salt off under your car or truck.
I always hose mine off just with water, and it's worked on everything I have driven in the winter for years.

Looks very normal if you live in Pennsylvania. Looks totaled if you live in California. Lol
