Just did the 5th Gen brake upgrade this weekend. Everything went smooth and the brakes feel great. Didn't have a frozen solid piston on the old but they were rusty and now it feels like I have less drag from the brakes. I bought all the same part numbers as in the first page of this post. The calipers from Rock auto came with all the hardware (pins and springs). Highly recommend this if anyone is replacing calipers anyway.

Just picked up a 2004 SR5 w the 4.7 and 17" wheels-there's some pulsating/pulling going on so this upgrade may be my first mod. Has anyone tried to install the 5th gen parts on a 4th gen with the smaller brake rotors yet? If so, did they fit?

Looks like its time to drive up to rock river in madison WI a little over an hour a way and test the waters with this.
4th gen sr5 and I just got the dreaded piston lock on the drivers side now LOL but heck for the bigger brakes and bigger rotors and better stopping it maybe worth biting the core charge LOL

I believe that you will need to either cut or bend the front dust shields.

Will the Front and Rear 5th Gen Calipers fit with the OEM 4th Gen brake lines?
Or do they need to be replaced as well to fit the new calipers??

I don't know man they might figure it out when they have an explosion of 5th gen 4runner calipers brakes and rotors once they send in the old core and they receive the 4th gen back cause a inventory issue

i did my front calipers last night using 5th gen. Bolt on and go, no issues. I have 17" wheels and large rotors already(limited) I used a new set of 4th gen brake pads i already had laying on the shelf. They fit perfectly.
The old setup had 2 shims between piston and pad, a solid one and a slotted one. I did leave out the slotted spacer, but put the solid one back in. I did that because the brake pads already had 1 shim attached to the back of the pad, where the toyota pads that came out did not. So,,,still 2 shims in there. The slotted shims I left out had a coating on them. Hope I made correct decision,,,,will find out i guess.

What is the size difference in the calipers? Are we gonna be able to fit 16'' wheels or only 17''?

Did you end up buying at NAPA? If so, which year did you ask for, and which casting number?
