Melted rear hatch button fixes - results??

Trying to see how OEM replacement switches have fared. Has anyone who used such had the melting problem occur again??

The melting problem seems to be a combination of environmental factors. A new factory switch should last a while longer, but some people have gotten away with using anything from duct tape to bike inner tubes.

I can confirm I replaced mine 3 years ago and it it still "like new" here in Arizona. Heat is not affecting the new one.
