The ONLY problem I have with this thread is that you called the 4R a minivan...

No need to call pretty much the last in its class of body-on-frame SUV with 30+ years off off-road heritage a minivan.

Its literally insulting lol.

Nice rig, and nice pictures. You have done well.

Awesome. I'll have to head down there sometime this summer. Appreciate it!

No insult taken. The GX is badass. The '16 TRD Pro 4runner is pretty awesome too (he left early). I am fully aware that my 4runner was the least badass of the group. But I'm okay with that. Spending time with better people than you ends up making you better. Why should the same be true for rigs?

Haha, thanks. It's a tongue-in-cheek reference to most of the work it does, not a reference to its capabilities. I'm a house husband and this is our family car. It hauls the kids to school and practices, goes to church and is loaded up with groceries every week. It almost always has a diaper bag in the back and you'll hear kids' music on the radio nearly as often as rock.

I guess I also have a habit of downplaying things.

This was my "4 cylinder, station wagon"

And my "little blue convertible"

PINS is definitely a treasure, I appreciate it more each year with all the development exploding in PA and CC...

How long did it take to Photoshop out all the seaweed? You got a really really clean section.

I will definitely pick up some of those traction jacks...losing a rig in the sand is a bad deal

PS: Scrolling back through your "exploring" posts about not getting shot, a really high % of Texas is private land like 97 or 99% but that sliver between the water and the high tide mark(dune) is all public!

This will be relatively mild compared to many on here and I'm not going to do anything revolutionary. The build thread is mainly for me to document what I did, how I liked it and what worked/didn't work.

My wife had a second child and I'm currently a stay-at-home dad and wasn't ready to get a minivan, so this made for a nice compromise. Wanted something bigger and less expensive than my last car, a small station wagon, so I bought this '07 with 125k miles.

She was completely stock when I bought her.

Here is how she sits today.
2.5"/1.5" Daystar lift, ditchlights, PlastiDipped wheels/grille, Yakima roof rack, new head unit and LED light swap.

Future Mods:
Bigger tires, probably 275/70R17s - Want to be able to have a full-size spare
More lights! Because I can...
Sound deadening and upgraded stereo
Suspension upgrade when the the XREAS system goes
Hidden winch setup
Permanent roof rack. I'm really liking the Prinsu Designs Rack
I love my prinsu rack...

I miss Texas and Padre Island, however, after getting stationed in Virginia and discovering the outer banks, I have to say PINS is nowhere near as nice.

Ha! The whole beach was like that. Those pictures are from 3 different spots on the beach. It was my first time out there, so I thought that was how the water and beach normally are. Didn't realize how clean everything was until I posted all the pictures and people started making comments like yours. Guess it really was a great weekend to go.

Well yea! I am headed out that way this fall to survey a bit of the middle coast.

The gulf is what it is but those of that grew up out there (and didnt know anything else) it really is special...and I enjoy the idea that most dont really think of Texas and coast or beaches in the same sentence.

Luckily the National Seashore is preserved and should be there till the sea level decides its not, the Texas population explosion is taking hold of the unprotected areas, and they are becoming just like everywhere else

I was born and raised in New Braunfels and I dont remember skipping a weekend to go down to the gulf and fish. However after all those trips down there I do not remember ever going to PINS without the wind blowing atleast 25 mph. I would go out past the surf in my kayak and once past the breakers there wouldn't be any. Never understood that.
