Is there anything I need to be aware of before sealing up my sunroof?

I think my drain tubes are clogged. I get a pool of water in the front passenger side everytime it rains and of course my sunroof doesn't open anymore. I can't imagine what the carpet looks like underneath, but I'd like to give this a chance to dry out for good.

Can I just buy some silicone from Home Depot and put it around the sunroof and call it a day? Is it that simple?

can you get the sunroof working?

all you have to do is blow some compressed air in the lines and they will flow again. then dump some wd40 or silicone and they will not clog again. im not sure but some vehicles they have a manual override for the sunroof incase power is lost.

you would probably need a lot of silicone to do the job.

The sunroof will tilt, but will only go back about a 1/2 inch before it stops. Last time I took it in to the dealer, they wouldn't even look at it, saying they don't want to be responsible for getting it stuck open.

I tried pulling it back with my hands while holding down the button, but it doesn't seem to want to go back. I've probably used it 10 times the whole 10 years I had the truck. I won't miss it, except for maybe resale, but I just need to stop this water from getting in. It's raining a lot and we park outside.

Have you tried to reset it? Disconnect the battery for about 5 min. or so. After reconnecting the battery press and hold the tilt button till it cycles through. If you have the owners manual it is under moon roof.

No kidding.....cool, I'll check that. I wasn't aware it was an option. I assume assumed it was stuck/dried out from not being used.

does your driver window not auto go down and your back window?

This resets each time the battery power is removed.

All of the other windows work fine, including auto down. The sunroof is the only one that appears stuck.

I'm thinking of sealing my sunroof as well. Not because it leaks but because it rattles and it's driving me crazy.

I would get the sunroof fully closed then disconnect the power to it before you seal it.

I called the dealer and asked how much it would be to perform the bo016-06 TSB for the stuck moonroof. they said there would be a diagnostic fee, and then it would be about $350 for them to perform the work.

I'd really like to fix this the right way, and if I was guaranteed for the TSB to fix the issue, I probably would spend the $350, but I'm worried that they will get it all apart and removing and regreasing won't do anything. And I'll be out the money and will still have to silicone up the roof.

I guess I'll have them take a look and see what they say.
