Internet Quote- "No Haggle Price"- Experiences?

Hey,

I am seriously looking at purchasing an 06 4Runner and as seems to be the standard these days, I have gotten 3 internet quotes. All of them are at or very near 29,990 and the salesperson refers to this as their bottom line, "no haggle price." Has anyone had any experience negotiating lower than their internet quote for an SR5 4x4 V6 with the sunroof/ 17 in alloys/ roof rack/ tow package? Also, I live in Indianapolis which is in the Chicago Region...this might have an effect (positive or negative) on my ability to negotiate.

Any thoughts? Experiences of late? Thanks!

Using the options you specified, Edmunds says that most people are paying 29,600 for that car with those options. It says that invoice is 28,600. I got my 4runner for 500 over invoice, and if it was one they had on their lot to begin with I would have gotten 250 over invoice. They had to trade cars with another dealer to get my specific car and because of that they said the lowest they would go was 500 over invoice. So you can do better than what the online dealers are offering.

There's ALWAYS room to haggle with the first quote they give you.

Definitely shop around. I live in Evansville, IN and I got quotes from as far away as St. Louis and Louisville. If you don't mind a little drive, contact Mike Burton, the Sales Manager at Uebelhor and Sons Toyota in Jasper, IN. I bought my truck there and got a great deal. I can get you his e-mail address if you want it.

Yeah you should be able to do better than that. They don't like to give their best price over the phone/internet.

I haven't tried this specifically on a 4Runner, but you can do what they call a "fax attack". A buddy of mine sent a fax to local dealerships entailing what exactly he wanted and asked for the price that they could give him. He also told them he was sending this to all of the competing dealerships. Turns out he got his Ridgeline for $500 under invoice.

my 06 4 runner was just bought for $1000 under invoice with 2.9% financing. With the price of gas now, 4 runners are probably not flying off the lot. They can do better...

Thank you all for your input and insight...great stuff.

Liquidvw...might you care to say where in the US you bought your 4runner? Is it an sr5 or a limited? I am wondering if regional differences are allowing such a major fluctuation in prices...also, did you do the classic negotiating or did you go the internet quote route and negotiate from there?

loner-- would appreciate the e-mail of your toyota contact in jasper.

Thanks!

Back in December, I bought an '06 SR5 V6 4WD that sounds as if it is very similar to what you are looking at. The M.S.R.P. on the sticker was $33,524 (incl. $604 destination charge). I paid $30,256 (supposed invoice price) less a rebate of $750, for a total price (excl. tax, tags, title) of $29,506.

Mine has the options that you mentioned, along with the side/curtain airbags, double-decker cargo system, first aid kit and floor mats. I think that's about it, but I may be missing one or two options.

I am in PA, which is probably the Mid-Atlantic or Northeast region.

I did something similar with my new 4Runner. Basically took the Toyota Hot on the Lot deal web offer from one dealer, and shopped it at another dealer. The first dealer had a sweet deal on a Black V8 SR5, but I really wanted the V6 for my daily commuter. Walked onto the second lot, and as soon as the sales person descended on me, flash the offer in his face and asked if he could beat it on an identical V6. Saved some cash and got the ride I wanted.

It probably helped that I did this on the 2nd to last day of April, late in the evening....
