Towing gear?

I have an 05 v8 4x4 that I pull my boat with. Boat and trailer are probably 3000-3500 pounds and then we have a few more people in the runner with equipment. I usually tow in 4 vs D. Just curious if anyone toes in D or what the recommendations are?

4 for sure.

I installed electric breaks as well. If your trailer has them, it's super easy to install on 4R.

+1 in 4. I tow my Malibu almost every weekend to skiing competitions. I only use d once I get on the highway where I know I wont need to downshift. But then back in 4 when leaving the highway.

Blind squirrel , I'm towing a ski nautique. You use D on the hwy? Do you have many hills to deal with? I'm afraid to use D because of constant downshifting where I'm at. Sure do get worse gas mileage in 4 though.

I agree with everyone else, tow in 4th gear. I never two in drive unless it's downhill.

The owner's manual recommends 4, not D.
