Open Door Buzz
I take my car on lots of camping trips, outings, etc. And I like to leave the doors open on the car if I am playing music, getting in and out of it a lot, etc. Primarily the rear hatch. However after about 5 minutes of being open the car starts to buzz for about 20-30 seconds. Does anyone know how to prevent this? Thanks.

Have you turned off the interior lights and tried that? Maybe if there's no draw on the battery the buzz won't start?
Just an idea,hope it works.

No I haven't tried it, but most of the time I want the light on, not always but sometimes, and I was just curious if anyone knew of an override.

Why would I take my Toyota to your Mazda dealer?

Are you talking about the "bing bing bing" when the ignition is on and doors are open, or some other buzz (which I haven't experienced)? Either way, it might be worth asking if a dealer can disable it.
Frankly I'm getting tired the number of "stupidity alerts" in cars these days. Seatbealt warnings are one thing, every other warning noise or light is just plain annoying.

No not the ding ding ding, its an electric buzz noise that is constant and lasts for about 30 seconds...leave the rear hatch open for about 5 minutes and you will hear it, if it only happened once it would be fine but it happens about every 5 minutes for 30 seconds, and its really irritating.

Is that the same buzz as when you hit the lock button and a door is open? I wasn't aware that the truck makes noise if a door is opened for 5 minutes.

There is a button covered by a rubber cover on the frame near the doors. When you close the door, the button is pressed and the ding stops. If you wanted, you could probably get some tape that does not leave residue behind, and place it across the button to hold it down. Seems like a lot of work to go through just to stop the ding though.

Yeah I checked and it is the same buzz you get when you try to arm the alarm with a door open.

Have you got the ignition at the on position rather than acces.. The buzz might be the fuel pump running. It shuts off tho. so it might not be the cause of your problem.

I noticed not may people have experienced this but I always have this problem. When I’m usually tailgating with my 4runner (2013 sr5) and the hatch is open for a couple of hours at a time, I here this buzz and I traced it back to under neither near my spare tire (assuming it’s the fuel pump). Does anyone else know why is this?
