Transmission Shift at 50 MPH

I have searched the forums and have not found an answer to this question. The 4runner always shifts, or should I say I can feel the converter lock, when I hit 50 mph. The only time this doesn't happen is under hard acceleration. Is this simply programed into the computer or is there another reason?
