Light duty skid plates. Aluminum or 1/8 steel?
So I have been trying to figure out which skid plates to go with. My 4Runner is being built as a family adventure / camping vehicle, and while it may see the occasional difficult trail, its main purpose is not rock crawling. While I understand the additional protection it would offer, I think for my purposes, a full 3/16" steel armor kit may be more than necessary. So I'm leaning towards either aluminum or the BudBuilt light 'expedition' plates in 1/8" steel. Cost not being a factor, which of the two would you prefer? I know there's no comparison between aluminum and 3/16" steel as far as durability, but what about the lighter 1/8" steel? The vehicle will be used primarily in the south east--north GA, TN, KY, AL, etc.
Thanks
